WOW! I made this today and was so blown away by how delicious it was. In reference to the curry powder question above - I bought curry powder from the bulk area/spice section at my Whole Foods.

Cookie! ~ the Benson and Hedges comment had me in stitches. Nicely done.

Patrick, thank you for including this in your post. This isn't meant to be theater-in-the-round.

What the cuss, Eddie? You would have been so close if you had taken half of the items out of the room. Why??? I would have only put the wallpaper on the main wall, and painted the other two walls the color of the trim. One more item that I have to mention as a floral designer... the cherry blossom looks like it is going to attack anyone sitting on the couch. This arrangement would have been better suited on the pedestal in place of the grotesque bust.

This designer actually understood her mission. I wouldn't want to live in this room, but I prefer the clean lines over the other two rooms.

Yikes, that rug looks like a muppet hide. I also don't understand where the writer and his female guest will be dining? I'm surprised at the amount of overkill in all three windows. Editing is a key element in design. The Etro jacket and wall paper are the few saving graces.

I love this post! The most wonderful "quiet eating" experience I've had was during a month-long meditation retreat. The style of eating is called oryoki and it was created in the Zen tradition. Oryoki provides for many to be served quickly, efficiently and most importantly beautifully. There are many intricate details that elevate eating to an art, and not in a crazy-neurotic way. I've provided a link to information about oryoki, it also provides a picture of oryoki in action: http://www.shambhala.org/oryoki.php

If you're familiar with the classic "The Little House," by Virginia Lee Burton, these pictures warm your heart. So pleased to see these people aren't letting the man get them down.
