Turning 40 in Boston (I have a bachelors and MBA) I haven't been able to get a real job for a few years. Much to my surprise I'm making close to minimum although I work a couple of jobs. The things people don't consider is that with a lot of low paying jobs you don't get paid for time off. Everyone needs a sick day or if you are hit by a snow day it's a huge hit. They cut your hours first, because then can if they need to payroll for those on salary.

You can't find another job since you are already working a few and you're not in the network to find another.

With that said, credit (it kills me to say that), 4 jobs (seriously, I'm not kidding) and a lot of time to find discount deals I sort of get by. You find things like the food truck that gives out expired food or free entertainment. But that takes time too, an already scarce resource.

I love reading Apartment Therapy since it gives a lot of good ideas to make things better and fresher. For instance, I never thought that cleaning would feel like a treat. It does. I never thought that moving furniture around would help, it does. It's a great site and I appreciate it.

This is so difficult and unless you live it you wouldn't know. So to save money I go one step beyond bringing my own lunch. I don't eat it.

I totally fell for it. I'm going to spend the rest of my day under my desk.

Not a really good after picture. I would like to see more than a corner. From what I can tell, it's an improvement.
