Love the perfectly restrained pops of red. What a happy little kitchen.

......and a new bed, and new bedding, and new lamps, and new window treatments.......

It's an awesome transformation, but the $100 price tag is a bit misleading.

When you saturate the market with copies, you dilute the value of the originals. If that doesn't bother you, then continue to buy the fakes. My guess, however, is that if you were one of the fortunate few who could afford to invest in the originals, you'd be making a different argument.

I prefer to cook solo, but when it comes to doing dishes and packing up the leftovers, the more the merrier. I really only entertain good friends and family, so if any one of them wants to help me clean up, I'm all for it!

The solution to my big shedding ball of fur (the Furminator is NO match for him) is a combo of hardwood floors and machine washable slipcovers. I don't care that my floors are covered in fur five minutes after I vacuum because at the very least, I can enjoy five minutes of furlessness. I don't think you can ever get to that point of "no fur" when you have carpets, so the camouflage effect wouldn't be worth it to me. I'd know what was lurking in those fibers...............

Decorating Around Pet Hair?
Good Questions

In my mind, eating is such a social activity, I can't understand sharing a meal with friends or family and then turning on the television!!! On the other hand, I totally get watching television or checking your phone when you're by yourself. I think that people miss that human connection when they're eating alone; sometimes connecting with the food just isn't enough. But those photos, with the blank eyed people sitting side by side with their plates of food, staring mindlessly at their screens............. So, so sad.

Someone please hold my hair back because I'm about to start retching. Kind of like my reaction to the recent Swedish fish cake with the *gag* mayonnaise frosting.

I love open shelving, but it's not realistic for me. Two words: shedding dog.

My glass front cabinets are the next best thing.

A labrador retriever? I don't think so. My kids have their own beds, so why shouldn't my dog?

Although, maybe if I had a small dog......

WOW!!! What's *not* to love? I'm just wondering how they get so much gorgeous light into these rooms. Lots of dark wood, but the rooms are so bright and airy. What's the trick???

I don't know if it's just my kids, but they love it when I make oatmeal in chicken broth and then sprinkle it with grated parmesan cheese. It sounds weird, but it's actually quite delicious. Sort of like risotto for breakfast.

I voted this morning, so I was only one of three who voted for the Judith Jones photo at that point. So happy to see that it's on top! There are so many lovely photos, but this one really seems to capture something special. So it's photo quality (they're all high quality, actually) plus Sabra's ability to catch her subject at that exact right moment. She certainly has the eye.

I'm with solobeckett. Sure I like the way butcher block looks. Or even tile countertops. But they're so impractical. If you cook a lot, granite is just easy and (seriously) indestructible. If you find the right pattern, you really don't have to worry about spills, and you never have to worry about hot pots. Stainless is great too (although you have to love the eventual "patina"), but not necessarily for pastry making. in my next kitchen (whenever that day comes), I might do stainless with a marble area for pastry and a butcher block area for chopping.

So it's been a few days.......... and I still don't like it. I'm not extremely literate when it comes to computer terminology, so I don't know if I'm saying this right, but it looks like there was a problem with the server(?) and all of the fonts went back to some weird default setting. I just want to *refresh* and have everything go back to normal. :(
