krunkinator, she explains on her blog that the counters are the standard 36" high. They look so low because she's very very tall. It seems like she's comfortable with the cutting board height. I think this is an excellent idea! I don't need it myself, but it is perfect for those who do.

Bathroom countertops, which are often lower than 36", have always bothered me. When we redid our bathroom, we used a kitchen cabinet for the vanity so that it would be at a better height. It is so much easier to wash your face at that height!

What I really really want - a fixer upper with good bones and enough money to pay someone to renovate it the way I want.

Barring that, I'd take a master bathroom in the current house. I'm tired of having one teeny tiny bathroom and trying to get ready for bed at the same time as the husband.

We had the exact same night tables for 3 years before I finally found great night stands! So funny! Why in the world is it so hard to find a good night stand? I don't get it! Two other big placeholders - an Ikea malm dresser is filling in until I find a perfect dresser, and a Crate and Barrel veneered dining table is filling in for now. What I really want is something with solid wood and something a bit more interesting. Current table is very boring. We also have a couple of the Ikea NOT lamps ($8 each) that are definitely placeholders. However, we plan to move in the nearish future so I don't want to invest in anything now when I don't know what our needs will be in a new house.

Yep, B&M brand Boston Brown Bread with raisins, in a can. Still available. I like it toasted with butter--yum! My kids loved it when they were little.

Green beans. I almost never eat them with a fork. Same with asparagus.

Victoria, check their website. Many of the items on there have prices listed. For the record, my two walnut Drexel bedside tables were $350 (for both). They do have some water stains on top (which Nini was quick to tell me about when I emailed about them), but that doesn't bother me.

I love your whole house! And the IKEA kitchen and use of the IKEA cabinets throughout the house. That door style fits perfectly with your home.

Indeed it was. But it bears repeating - this kitchen has no style to start with. Don't preserve any of it. Gut it, put the cabinets in the garage, and put in a new kitchen.

The only thing ruining that "mint condition home" is the current kitchen in its entirety.

These look cool, but are just rulers attached to IKEA furniture - with an extremely hefty markup. They'd be a very easy DIY. I'm not really seeing how this is "green" either, which is what Vivaterra purports to sell.
