I used to have that dish drainer (before we got a dishwasher) and I LOVED it. It looks beautiful - so much nicer to have on the counter than a traditional dish rack (at least for my style) and love the way it collects water in the bottom. Gunk did tend to build up in the crevices, but a regular spritz and scrub with a sponge kept things pretty clean. I used mine for about 5-6 years before we got the dishwasher, and I still have it, just in case we move and need to use it again.

We don't have a burr grinder (just the blade grinder) but I've found that my husband has the perfect touch to grind the coffee correctly for our French press - whenever I attempt it, the coffee just doesn't turn out right. He shakes the grinder vigorously in the air while it's running - perhaps that makes the pieces more evenly chopped. Anyway, he's mastered the technique. Also stirring the grounds in the hot water before putting the plunger on is another key element to get the most flavorful coffee.

A friend of mine used to always do a pickle back with Absolut's Peppar vodka. Spicy and salty? I hate pickles so I never gave it a try, but that was 10 years ago in San Francisco, so I don't think it's a new thing (though I'm not sure where he got that idea!).

That looks amazing, but a total fire hazard. I could imagine bumping into that thing and accidentally setting my house on fire.

Do you think adding a spirit with more flavor (like reposado tequila or spiced rum or even flavored vodkas) would also work, plus add some flavor to the crust?

My favorite mango dish: We made this a lot on vacation in Costa Rica:

1 mango, peeled, pitted
Costa Rican Rum

Put in blender and blend until smooth, drink with straw

Another mango recipe for the summer which I made a couple weeks ago:
Mango Mint Lemonade Popsicles
Slice Mango into small pieces
Place mango into popsicle molds, alternating with finely chopped mint. It's OK to squeeze the mango in there pretty tightly. Top off with prepared lemonade. Freeze. The frozen mango is the most lovely texture and the lemonade gives the popsicle a nice kick!

My flatmate had something similar when I lived in New Zealand and we would bubblfy everything and anything. I loved putting bubbles into cranberry juice! But seltzer with lemon is the ultimate summertime drink!

When I was a kid, my friend and I wanted to make brownies from scratch. Somehow we added 1/2 cup of salt instead of 1/2 teaspoon. Luckily we realized this before we put the brownies into the oven, but we had to start all over again (we did try to feed the batter to the neighbor's horses, but they wouldn't eat it). With the second batch, we forgot to add the sugar. We noticed this before it went into the oven and added sugar, but the brownies did not come out right - they were very surgary and kind of crunchy. We learned that you really do have to add the ingredients in order!

What about a big pot of soup stew with lots of crusty bread? Something with white beans, kale and sausage? Sounds good to me!

I have a less slick looking version of this. Be forewarned, you must change the water often (at least daily) or you're left with some sort of stinky primordial sludge instead of fresh herbs in no time.

My colleague threw away an old signature stamp at the office. A few days later the dumpster downstairs was covered in his signature! You never can be too careful about what you throw away.
