I've been using Corelle dinnerware for as long as I can remember, and though I've tried to diversify a few times I always end up going back to it. It's so beautiful in its simplicity, goes with any style, is light weight and so durable--I can't tell you how many dishes I've dropped and haven't broken a single one (the same material is used on the nose-cones of rocket ships). Last year my boyfriend and I rennovated his room in his old townhouse apartment. When we peeled off the wallpaper that had been painted over (and was peeling off the walls so badly that we pulled it off with our hands) we found a gorgeous cranberry red painted directly onto the plaster--it must have been 100 years old. What a lovely house--it has so much potential! I think painted brick can look quite nice, but I do really like it the way it is. Depending on what you're going for, I would suggest painting the walls either a light sage green or a nice creamy beige (nothing too yellow). Post pictures when it's all done!
