Jade: ignore the neat freaks who've commented. :) I think your place looks great. And books are NEVER a bad thing.

I agree with icarus: I love this look and it looks like it's been collected over time. This, to me, is much more beautiful than the symmetrical hangings you see EVERYWHERE.

I thought I wasn't going to like this. But I do.
I think the midcentury is waaay overdone; a few other styles mixed in would have helped with that.
That said, the art work is the STAR. Lovely.

A few of you guy's are the voices of doom.
Yes, the advice is practical...and realistic...but the poor thing came here for design advice and y'all are talking splitsville and dividing up the stuff. Cut her some slack. :)

Good Questions

I actually think your styles are more similar than you realize.
You can add in pops of color through accessories: a very clean, streamlined vase, in a red, yellow or apple green.
One bold graphic print on a pillow.
Or, think about bold artwork to add color.

One or two items will go a long way toward adding that homey feel you like w/o cluttering the space.

Celeb closets are nice...unfortunately we can't all have closets like this.
A look at a more normal celeb closet would be nice. In Style showed Tracy Ellis Ross' closet (she's an actress..and Diana Ross' daughter). She had the clothes but in a normal space and it didn't look like a show room.

I like that some of the art doesn't match the space - it goes with it. That is a common mistake people make and I'm glad you avoided it.
That said, some of the elements are a bit jarring to me. Overall, though, I think you put a lot of personality into the space and it definitely doesn't look cookie cutter.
