945 square feet - For me, my husband, my 5 year old, two year old and newborn baby. If it was a house (with a door to the outside) I would say we could stay for a while longer, but being an apartment with an enclosed patio, I am ready for a bit more space!

This is lovley! And so nice to see happening. In my neck of the woods, our family is the odd one with two kids *gasp* of two different genders sharing a room! How inspiring to see three and soon four sharing. Bedtimes and naptimes went waaaaay smoother than i ever anticipated. Bedtime I usually put the baby down first and we do stories in mum and pappas bed OR put eldest down first and then nurse baby in my bed OR get eldest all ready and send him up to the top bunk and then nurse on the bottom with the baby and deposit into her crib when done! Night time wakings don't ever stir my eldest from his deep slumbering so i don't have any tips on that. But what we did do was get a bunk bed in there a.s.ap and then also had the crib in there as well. I was able to lay in the bottom bunk and nurse some nights, we also used it to share our nightly stories. Getting the bunk before we actually needed it was like adding a third bedroom to our apartment! Again so happy to see that more people are doing this! Just yesterday I had a convo with a husband of a good friend of mine whose kids WANT to share a room but because he spent uber bucks to add two more bedrooms to his three bedroom home he feels he shouldn't let them. his words were " I work hard so my kids don't have to share a room" UGH I can't stand those kind of remarks! Anyways this i long enough - Great Work!

um yes yes and yes.
We live in Richmond BC Canada a city just outside of Vancouver. In a part of the city that is very HOUSE. Not many apartments. We live in a 950sqf two bedroom with our two kids. Our living room has 10ft ceilings, we have an enclosed balcony that we turned into the kids playroom, huge master bedroom and a very open space living room/dinning room. We love it and most importantly we can afford to pay the mortgage, the seniors on either side of us are dead quiet and can't hear my kids make noise (all the time) and it is in a Fabulous nature filled area. Also it allows me to stay home with my babies. My cousins in particular cannot fathom why I wouldn't put the kids in daycare and move out to Cloverdale (the boons) so we could AT LEAST get a townhome. Ha! They were absolutley mortified when we found out our second child was a girl (our first was a boy) and discovered (gasp) we were going to have them share a room! Ha It's just water off a ducks back now but boy was I angry those first few jabs....

as an apartment dweller with two children (although we do have a two bedroom) I think this is a fabulous idea! People need to step out of the box a bit, I am sure she secured it to the utmost in safe securing, hello it's her kid in there....kudos to you, we are thinking of doing a similar thing in our childrens room (baby is still in our bed) but we've had a beautiful solid wood bunk bed made and I would like to cribify the bottom somehow....articles like these make me think I'm not that crazy for thinking outside the norm.

we use our record player daily! We're very much retro people, I used my christmas bonus a few years ago for an antique turn table rather than get an Ipod!

I think you are ingenious! I am very surprised at the comments regarding privacy, This is real life, a real family and you'd be surprised how many people actually indeed live like this. I agree, having less privacy makes for more special moments! I love the cozy factor, would love to see more pic's too!
