Candice Olsen used one of these in a make over some time ago. With that thought...it has to be good...though I don't know if it is the same one from this manufacturer.

As for 'lead paint chips on the pillow' hilllgirl -- Rachel Ashwell founder of the Shabby Chic style would had the rough bits sanded a bit and then varnished over so that the patina and the age of the piece would remain in tact. As far as a winner is concerned I think it goes like this...they already have their white male with David, their black female with Kim, they need a white female...so pick one- 'cept that crying ass Tracee...and they need a black male, but Scottie was too old. Let's see if my prediction holds out...I don't think it matters how America votes in the end.

Nicely done and well edited. Great color and furniture selections.

I'm not 100% green either. For years I had been the only one on my block (of 10 row homes across from a park) that had a window air conditioner. (I have 2 in fact - one upstairs one downstairs). Last night while taking out the trash, I thought to myself that I must be crazy or something, why was I the only one on the block with a unit or two - did my neighbors know something about being cool that I did not. Walking round the block, I noticed, 2 houses have central air, 3 houses are empty though not abandoned. Leaning again my fuel efficient vw new beetle, I glanced up and noticed ...four window units in the upper floors. They must remove them during the day -- what? Anyway, no air is a deal breaker for me too.

It was only in 2002 that I got my driver licence and purchased my car new in 2004. I hated riding buses and now I hate driving behind them. They are no way to cart home groceries and 20 lb bags of cat food or kitty litter, although when I did it, I had to.

I have decided that I will go florescent when my current "Reveal" lightbulbs blow out and all are used up. Though I am reminded why I hate florescent bulbs, that little wait for them to turn on and that little humm they make.

I have put down a little terrace in my back yard using bricks that my father had made (yep- dad a brickmaker) and had put in our family home. Upon inheriting the home, my sister didn't like the brick and I gleefully drove my car down to her house and pryed each one up and loaded them back to my house.

But yes, going green has to be easy and relatively cheap or I can't do it and probably won't. We recycle in Camden, New Jersy. The city so graciously gave us big red plastic cans for our bottles and cans and newspapers can be placed inside paper bags or wraped in twine. Still everybody does not do these simple things.

Yes, green is coming, but it does have to be cheap, easy and damn near automatic for it to catch on with the masses. Otherwise, people aren't going to do it...unless...it's the law...

Back in this heyday, Christopher Lowell outfitted a shed as a guest house. Pretty much the same concept, exept for desk, a bed, or daybed, chair, desk, etc. Anybody remember?

I never watched it either. So, is that about the need to give a spare key to a neighbor/friend? I don't get it.

I collected hand carved wooden bowls. That is a passion that I stopped due to lack of storage. Currently, I collect nothing.

I have a chalk board wall in my kitchen. I tied the chalk with a string of kitchen twine. But then, the cats found it. Chalk in atleast 3 pieces. Cats one - chalk on a string zero. Just sorry I missed the play.

That human form reminds me of the window box of grass I planted for my cats. When I presented it to them, the grass was all nice and tall and green. A few days later I caught one of them lying in the box -- daydreaming I guess!

On first glance, I was hoping that that kid had enough sense to run into the house and not to dive into the pool.

None of these suggestions warrant me going out and purchasing alka-seltzer for these purposes. If I had it in the house, I would rather use it for the recommended uses, such as heartburn, indigestion, etc. About the microwave plate...if you let it soak in hot water and soap for 10 minutes, I believe anything would come off. Same with the baking glass pan. As for the toilet, use some of that Boni Ami that is often touted on these AT pages. The main thing in all of this cleaning is that the item being cleaned has been soaked. That's what softens the waste, the alka-seltzer is just in it for the ride.

One more thing -- I've never paid $55 for replacement bags. I generally buy them at the Oreck store located in Cherry Hill, NJ.

I purchased an Oreck XL from one of those television shopping shows. I don't recall which, so I won't mention any. This has been at least 6 years now and I have never regretted the purchase. The only thing I've had to purchase was the bags. My XL is the 8 pounder and came with a canister vac and one of those rechargable handheld vacs for the car. (So 3 for the price of 1). I would purchase it again and highly recommend it. Whatever you choose, remember -- buy once and buy well. American made is the way to go and it came/comes with the awesome Oreck guarantee.

I have a hanging 'system' called a "Ear-Nest" that I 'found' at the Goodwill a few years ago. The larger one slots for post or clip earrings. You have to leave the backs on the post so the can stay in the slots and some pegs on the bottom for necklaces. The smaller one is just for earrings. It came with a card and a website listed as www.ear-nest.com. For whatever reason, I don't notice any dust. I match earrings to moods or outfits so I change them daily. I have it hung on the back of my bedroom door.
