I wish she'd kept the black counters, I love the contrast.

I don't see my previous comment, but I don't like this - I think the hardware needs to be swapped out. Keeping the knobs on the top makes it look weird and the hardware overall looks dated. They should put on new modern hardware and then swap out the knobs for drawer pulls on the top.

Thanks - these are pretty much exactly what I'm looking for - we're moving into a new house this summer and I was hoping for a vanity in the bedroom since our bathroom is going to smaller than what we have now (less storage for makeup and hair stuff).

So, this sort of commenting is why I'm sad that apt therapy combined all of its various sites. I don't think it works.

p.s. Lovely party, it looks like you had a ton of fun!!

Oh, also I think a matte paint might've been better than the high gloss.

Really cool piece of furniture, but I also don't like the gray very much. I actually think this would've looked great if the trim was painted a contrasting color and the hardware was oil rubbed bronze or silver colored metal. Personally, I would've done a creamy white (more white less yellow) with black or navy trim - I do love the pastel colored interior though! And for $15, what a find!

Aluminum foil is what my mom has been using for years - it works much better at scrubbing than any brillo pad I've ever used.

My impression was not that the person asking the question wants information on where to buy a knockoff but rather they're looking for something with a similar aesthetic. So there's really no need for your snarky and snobby comments.

I've never had tawny port chilled, but sounds like it would be refreshing for hot days - even better on hot summer days is chilled white port! As for how long a bottle of port keeps - it depends on the style. We've kept bottles of port (both ruby and aged tawny) out in a carafe for a month or two without any problems. I actually find that some ports taste better after they've been sitting out for a while - tawnies especially because I think the flavor gets deeper. When we asked sellers in Portugal, they said a bottle of ruby or tawny would keep well for several months (but why would you?!). They urged us to finish off an LBV in 2-3 weeks and a vintage port immediately. As a data point, my sister-in-law has had a bottle of white port sitting in the fridge for over a year and a half and every time we visit, we have a tiny taste and while the flavor has changed a bit, it's still delicious.

Actually, I'm curious about where all of these mattresses have gone considering they are used and can't be resold. Have they been thrown out? While I've found this series very helpful because I, too, need a new mattress, it seems really wasteful if indeed they're just thrown out after you use them. I hope that you've at least been able to donate them to someone in need. Apologies if this is something that was addressed in an earlier post.

My husband bought me an electric kettle - it is MUCH quicker than boiling water in a kettle (I don't know if it's just our crappy apartment stovetop, but it's a gas range and still takes a really long time to boil water whether in a kettle or in a pot). I don't like using the microwave to boil water, it also takes a really long time, and I don't think it's safe, especially since my microwave is above the stove and hard for me to reach. So in my particular case, the electric kettle is a must!

Ah, that's because your click through includes www.unplugged.com in front of the C25K website. Their site works fine, the link is just messed up.

If you're willing to move or replace it, I think that you may have to replace that bookshelf (is that your desk?) with a wardrobe. It is taking up a LOT of space but doesn't seem to be very practical if you need more storage space for clothing and other items.

Seconding the person who recommended checking to see if the city or the condo board have some sort of carpeting rule - the city I live in requires that X% of floors be covered by rugs. I don't think it's actually enforced, but can be cited to the neighbors to get them to put down rugs.

We have the Steamer Bar Cabinet from Crate and Barrel which is similar to this one and it is really amazing. It has a small footprint, but it has SO much storage space. It fits everything we need for our bar (every single type of bar glass, liquor bottles, wine bottles, bar accessories, appetizer plates and accessories, and then some). It also opens out into a full bar if you have a party and want to serve from behind it. It is also super sturdy, and it's on casters, but you can't see the casters, they are well hidden. This is a piece of furniture that I imagine we'll have forever. I can't recommend it enough.

I have a gus modern sofa, but one with three cushions instead of the bench cushion. It's very comfortable and the cushions have held up well, but the buttons come off SO easily. The first one came off just a couple months after I got the sofa. Three years later, there's at least one button missing from each side of every cushion. I really need to find myself an upholsterer to fix them.

p.s. Gus Modern is made in Canada, not China.

It looks that area above the stove is meant to conceal the vent hood and everything that comes with it. It was probably cheaper to do it this way than create fake cabinets. I'm curious, if Bekki and Gary are answering comments, how much over budget they went because of the mold in the floor? Thank you!
