Oh dear. What happens, if due to drafts and such, that the candles burn at different rates? Would that cause it to tip, possibly putting the flame too close to a stand, or worse, the ceiling? Or, something equally flammable? Apartment Therapy - Big Dipper ChandeliersSlinks: n. (slingks) Surreptitious web links to other good sites |

What's wrong with Ikea if it fits your budget and you like the design? I have a few Ikea pieces in my house and so far, no complaints. In fact, it's nice having access to designs that are typically priced well out of reach for the majority of us. Apartment Therapy - October 2007 IKEA brochure- What's your take? |

I like your use of strong black and white accents against the colour. It gives everything a sense of adventure, perhaps with a bit of humour mixed in... Apartment Therapy - #23- Lauren's Source of Happiness |

I absolutely love the strong linear stripes and heavy contrast here. It helps define the splashes of colour without going overboard with saturation. Apartment Therapy - #22 - Kathryn Daniel's Bright Stripes, Big City |

Aside from their cotton loop bathroom rugs, every piece of carpet ever purchased at Ikea has been a bitter disappointment: far to much shedding and fraying for my liking. Apartment Therapy - IKEA's HULDA Rugs |

It's a great chair (I was at Ikea yesterday) and would buy it if I had a need for it. I noted that there were also slipcovers for it on sale, which had a very cool looking graphic drawing of a simple leaf on a black background (they also sell yardage with the same print on it). Oh boy, this looks much like my own garden, which is a natural flower garden with native species--organic and pesticide free, of course. However, in many suburban neighbourhoods, this sort of look isn't embraced, where manicured lawns with marigold borders are the order of the day. Whomever uses the least amount of MDF in the final design, because really, they (the guys) don't look all that different. And unlike youthful good looks, good design can last much, much longer. Apartment Therapy - Lunchtime Survey: Nate Berkus vs. Ty Pennington |

I don't see anything wrong with the colour of your curtains, but the style is a bit...colonial? Maybe a more masculine type of window covering like a shade, or sliding panels, would be better. I'd also try to instill a bit more colour in the room, maybe with a plant or two, some sort of textiles around your seating area, a couple pieces of art for the walls, that way, the window treatments might not be such a glaring contrast. Your place is very nice, but it looks a bit plain and heavy. Apartment Therapy - Good Questions: What Color Chair and Curtains Should I Get? |

Leave some clean and clear space for your guests to plunk their stuff down. Empty bedside table tops. bureau tops, even clear space on the vanity/grooming area. I know it sounds small in terms of effort, but when you're away from home and are facing not able to stash your items away, a bit of cleared area is most welcoming. Apartment Therapy - AT on...
