We picked our house in part because we asked a 10 year old boy on the street what his favorite thing about the street was, and he said "All of the kids; almost every house has kids and we all play together."
I sometimes hate that our yard if the 50 yard line and it can be SO loud, and that the kids trample our plants in the backyard, but my toddler loves the big kids and it WAS kinda neat to teach the older kids about the veggies we were growing. This year I think we'll put up a fence in the back to protect the garden and keep our apples from becoming missiles in the endless war games, but we will keep sharing the front yard. We have a big front porch and garden beds in the front. Our fondness for the front yard means those beds are much better weeded than the ones in the back!

Cherub, what makes you think she didn't finish the room? I think she was just using one wallpaper accent wall. But I can't read swedish, so maybe I'm wrong?
I love the first room better anyway.

Love that Elizabeth Mitchell CD.
My one year old loves her toy piano and went gaga over a full-sized keyboard we saw at Costco. She also loves her shaker eggs from the dollar bin at Target.

How much did it cost to take your course? I looked at the website but it didn't list prices. I've just trying to get a general idea. We just moved into a 1911 house and I am positive there is lead paint throughout (unless maybe they didn't use lead paint *before* a certain time? I doubt it, plus the layers...).

I don't know, but this is a HUGE problem for me. I end up propping my laptop on the arm of the couch or on the couch cushion on the other side and turning sideways--not ergonomic at all. My wife (we're a same sex couple, both breastfeeding) has a desktop and has had zero problems using her desktop, regular desk chair, and just a small pillow under the baby. I've tried that with my laptop and the kitchen table (I've never had a desk), and it's okay, but hard to maneuver b/c our kitchen chairs are a) wobbly and b) get stuck on the rug and I can't maneuver at all. Her desk chair is on wheels so she can adjust as needed/as the baby moves. Typing is still one-handed but she got the Dragon speaking program so she can talk into the computer when she needs to.
We're moving out of this apartment in June and have the place on the market now, so I don't want to buy any furniture, but if I could I would buy something like http://www.amazon.com/Butler-Specialty-7025111-Mobile-Table/dp/B003XKSSO4 or the air desk.

I also agree with Jess Thrift. This new design is really annoying if you're using an RSS feed.

I want this highchair so much! We ended up registering for the Fisher Price one because we couldn't justify the price of the OXO, but I still lust after the OXO. Our 12-day-old baby is still too young for either, but soon! For now, it's all boob all the time.

I want this SO much. We drink a ton of seltzer, and with a new baby and my wife breastfeeding, a) we go through even more seltzer, as my wife is always thirsty, and b) I'm the one who always has to drive to the store to buy more.
My wife won't let me buy one of these because they are made in the Occupied Territories, but if I WON one she couldn't turn it down. Oh, I want this so much.

Our 5-day old is sitting in my lap as I type this. I was thinking earlier today that I wanted to find some sort of mobile for her...this would be wonderful, especially because we are on a very tight budget.

wow. what a great giveaway. I would love this, and I can tell I'm not the only one! My current pots and pans were a comp to a friend's uncle for his casino winnings! They aren't great, to put it mildly, though of course we appreciated the gift.
