I think there can be a happy medium between disciplining your toddler to know when it's a "no-no" and when it's ok to play with something. My daughter is almost 20 months old and she knows that when Mommy is on the computer it's off limits, but we have Baby Smash and love it! When I'm folding laundry or something I put it on and she picks out individual letters on the keyboard to push and loves to see the "happy" shapes. It's helping her recognize her alphabet too.

If your kid isn't used to being told "no" anywhere else, chances are hearing it with a computer isn't any different....

I love this nursery! I have a boy on the way and already have my daughter's room (she's only 19 months) painted pretty much this exact shade of blue! Since he will be taking her old room and she'll move to another room, it's great to see the color work with all the fun vintage/modern stuff in this room. This style is exactly what I envision for his room. I wish I could find some lockers like that around here though!

I have a Charlotte too! It fit her perfectly and we really didn't consult any lists before picking it. It seemed to fit her and we loved it's classic little girl to old lady appeal. :) I'm pregnant with my second child, a boy, and we're going nuts picking the perfect first name!

Why not just create half a room and reflect it back in a mirror? This rooms is incredibly symmetrical -- seems really...uninspired. I loved Eddie on Top Design but I'm not feeling this one.

I'm hosting my in-laws (12 of them - including siblings and spouses!) and some of my family for the first time ever in our new house. I've been running myself ragged trying to get as much finished as I possibly could (painting, window treatments, pictures on walls, extra seating) and while it's been fun to do, I wish I wasn't forced to do it so quickly (or with a 1 year old underfoot).

While I know it won't be "perfect" I really want it to look like a home and feel comfortable and inviting as opposed to the stark white palate that it was a couple of months ago. Of course our families will love the time with us, not the decor, but I take a lot of pride in my home and want that to be reflected to those who visit it.

That first room makes me cringe. The colors are beautiful, but really, how is that a functional room? Every piece of furniture looks uncomfortable and uninviting.

It's a light bulb. In a stump. Ugh.

I recently bought a storage ottoman for my 1 year olds toys and I couldn't be happier with it. It was a steal at JCPenny and looks almost identical to the Urban Outfitters one pictures but it's microfiber and significantly less expensive.

I love potato candy and make it every year for the holidays! It's much better for you than using butter and while everyone looks at you funny when you tell them what it is, once they taste it they are converts. :)

During the winter holidays my grandparents and my mom would always take me persimmon picking in the woods. It is one of my fondest memories now and I would have traded that giftsfor that outing every year. Also, driving around with all the family in a caravan with a thermos of hot cocoa looking at the pretty "holiday" lights...pretty much a "free" present for little kids.

This is a great room. I agree that it doens't look all that functional in the photo, but I'm sure it was cleaned up to show off the room, not the little girl clutter. She'll be able to grow into this room so well! I'm jealous!

Love the cabinets but good lord, what about dust/spills/grease? Cleaning those tiny holes looks like a nightmare.

This is just...silly. Why would I want to get in a deep, coffin-like box in the dead of summer? (hehe) Why even go outside at all?

I love these! I wish they were made into wall decals! I've been looking for the perfect rgaphics for my daughters room and these are gorgeous! I'm not nearly artistic enough to try and duplicate....

We have the Diaper Genie II now and it's worked perfectly fine for us. We don't smell anything, even when you open the lid to drop in a new diaper. You have to buy the refills, but they aren't that expensive and one refill lasts a good while.

Good luck with this one! I have 4 cats and have pretty much given up on finding the "non-hair attracting" one. I've been through a bunch of area rugs and have basically just resigned myself to a life of vacuuming constantly. However, I have since upgraded to a "pet hair" specific vacuum which has made life much easier! :)
