Yes, I am way into using coupons and keep a zipper pouch in my bag with a small collection. They do add up, even though it might not seem like it.

My CVS coupons are always useful. And I almost always use the coupons they give me at Jewel, the ones that come out of the register with my receipt after I've paid. Mainly they're products I've already purchased in the past (especially Kashi and Morningstar products). But they know what coupons to print based on your buying history, if you have Jewel card. Most of the time, the coupon is decent enough to hang on to for the next grocery trip.

I like Design Milk for their coverage of home, as well as art & design in general. I also like that they don't perpetuate that cutesy "birdy/deer antler/flowery" aesthetic which has come to drive me crazy lately.

Eeek!! Mimosa reminds me of a taxi cab. I love Blue Iris. Always will.

To gryt: that's exactly what I was thinking!

When I was little I used to have the Barbie Townhouse...and the photo of the LR reminded me of the curvy, low lounge chairs and couch (Barbie's, not Karim's) that were covered in lime green and pink wavy stripes. They came with the set and it was all so groovy.

This place is like a giant, endless playroom for adults. Not for me, but to each his own.

I was thinking that applying wall color couldn't work in a show for someone who uses light as part of their art (i.e. Jenny Holzer, Dan Flavin, Olafur Eliasson).

I have and probably always will be a minimalist. My taste in art, home decor, and clothing is all about no-fuss/no frills and simplicity. I also don't care much for decorating at the holidays because of my limited free time and the amount of money and resources involved. I would much rather spend quality time with friends and family rather than using up my energy and several hours of the day trying to get the decorations "just so." These tree options are very appealing to me - cool, clean and modern - and I appreciate the post! Thanks!

Call Scott Heuvelhorst - he just designed Maria Pinto's showroom in the West Loop. He has a great eye and besides that...a super nice guy.

I received a set of these as a housewarming gift last year, in the Birds Retro pattern. I love these, but haven't gotten much use out of them because we normally use stemless wine glasses when entertaining. Anyway my friend bought them from the Museum of Contemporary Art's gift store.

Cute indeed! But without being cutesy... Makes me think of orange sherbet more than pumpkin pie, though.

We follow this principle in our bedroom...less stuff, more calm. Once, our friend's precocious 3-year old was visiting, looked around the bedroom and said, "You need more decorations in here." I laughed - are we are conditioned so young to believe that we need more "stuff" to fill the emptiness around us (and maybe, within ourselves?).

I don't care for them either, Lizzykewl, but you know...these would sell like hot cakes in Transylvania.

Wow, I love this. So much light and space. Just seeing the photos makes me happy, but if I was inside I'd probably start doing cartwheels or something.

Many of these comments are totally valid. I get to that point of feeling like I will never have a home like what I see in shelter magazines, but what I have to remind myself of, and everyone should remember: never say never! You don't know what can happen in a year, five or ten. Your circumstances today don't determine where/who you will be or what you will have tomorrow. And it IS all inspiration - there are so many ways to get the same stuff with deals/sales, etc. That's how the sig.other and I have managed to get most of what's in our place.

I also have to add that this discussion reminds me of how I feel after reading fashion magazines. I will never look like Heidi Klum or own a Chanel suit. OOOPS never say never!! Ha ha! :)

Here's another good video to watch, from a home show on NBC that aired in 1956. My husband and I like their furniture, videos, sculptures, etc. but found it more interesting to watch because of the time period. Watch Ray and how she came across (and then disappeared early on) in this video. I guess it made us think about women's roles in life/business, in the not so distant past. We're sure she had much more of an influence in the work but she sure played it down............or maybe she was just being modest :)

It's impossible to have a meaningful conversation about something as polarizing as contemporary art on a blog like this without a fight breaking out, but I guess it's the same thing that happens when discussing religion or politics...pick a side, and have at it!

Regardless, everyone's comments have been very entertaining. I'd LOVE to see more posts like this on ATC! :)

I saw this exact lamp at Broadway Antique Market and was going to purchase it but the price was a bit steep. I'll bet that's where they found it. There were no designer tags anywhere on the piece so I have no idea who produced this. Anyway I ended up finding a black one for $25 at a different antique shop in the city.
