Seeing Ursula’s bed at the foot of your bed brings back memories of new routines and habits when my parents first got divorced. I was five and my sister was seven. My dad set up our bedroom down the hall from his in his new house. He made sure we had new comforters and a place to call our own (lots of garage sale finds and miss-matched furniture, but it was “ours.”). However, every night we would drag our blankets down to his room and set up “camp” on the floor on either side of his bed. He continually tried to get us to go back to our room, but we refused. I think we just wanted to feel safe and secure and enjoyed being close even though things weren’t the same as they had once been. We would all lay there reading and chatting till we fell asleep. 25+ years later my dad is now deceased, but I feel lucky for those silly traditions we made as an evolving family even as things were tough. You seem like a great dad as well. How To Make a Simple Princess Bed Apartment Therapy Tutorials |

After reading the thread post and commenting earlier, I'm deciding not to be lazy... anyone in Denver want to do an AT Meetup? I can start it on meetup.com. Maybe it can be something design related like checking out some of the antique shops and galleries on Santa Fe then having a drink/coffee after. Just comment and I'll move the conversation over to that site! 10 Tried & True Tips: How to Make New Friends in a New City |

This has been a hot-topic for me for about a year now. I moved from LA to Denver. I found that when I moved from Chicago to LA (a beach city) I had no trouble making friends bc the beach lifestyle lends itself to just hanging out all the time. I also met a lot of friends through meetup.com. I feel like I've tried everything in Denver but no one is banging down my door to hang out! I've learned to be patient, and in that time I've recognized I'm kind of building my "community" first (found a doctor, immersed myself in work, found a few favorite restaurants), and then friends will come. 10 Tried & True Tips: How to Make New Friends in a New City |

Part of the reason I love AT is to be inspired by others design aesthetic. I also enjoy design when it comes to fashion. So the "buy less, buy what you need" doesn't work for me. Haha I thought it was my old street - Pierce, in Wicker Park. None-the-less it's VERY Chicago. I always used to look in the rennovated mansions on my street. Such an eclectic mix of new and old! Non-Creepy Peeping: Getting Inspiration from Neighbors |

These are my top party-planning secrets as well! I always say - good, music, dim the lights, and have more alcohol than you think you'll need. The worst is running out of alcohol mid-party. And having a drink 30 min before the guests arrive is imperative (or whatever relaxes you). Your stress will show and like the author said, your mood sets the tone. I made this last night and it was GREAT! The only problem -- much like @jamimess, I got tiny pieces of egg bits. Don't get me wrong, it tasted great, but maybe I added the egg mixture too quickly? Would love to know how to avoid this as well. Thanks! (oh and adding lemon at the end really MADE the dish!) Soup Recipe: Italian Wedding Soup |

I think this room is "fine" and if I walked into someone's apartment and saw this I would probably say - "Oh cute, I like your style." However, it really doesn't feel like a big COLOR winner to me. I don't feel inspired or energetic from looking at it. I also re-read the intro twice bc I was confused when it said "designer." I guess it's not against the rules, not as FUN I guess... I'm thoroughly in love with Tom Ford, but does anyone else agree that that big book look rediculous on that little table. Seems quite hefty to pick up in such a petite space! Before & After: Annie's Entryway style/SWOON |
