We have used curtains for ours, in lieu of sliders. Works well for a closet, but not so well for pocket door for dividing rooms up.

If you want sliders, get the hardware from McMaster-Carr, it'll run you about $200-$300 if my memory is correct. Pick up some used doors from Builders Resources off Third St. We've picked up several from there for various projects, including a wonderful glass back door for around $50.

My son told me this morning that his pre-k class is baking cookies next week and selling them with the proceeds going to Haiti relief. That's such a great idea to get the kids involved like that.

google calendars has been a family savior for us. One for her, one for him and one for us...all visible on our iphones. the only downfall is that we rely on it so much, that if we fail to post an event or appointment, it will get missed.

As a vegetarian for more than 15 years, I can honestly say that the holidays suck and nothing sucks more than going to a feast and having nothing available to eat.

Most of my friends and relatives know I am a vegetarian and usually ask that I bring an entree. Typically, I make enough to share, and there is rarely anything to take back home with me.

On the other hand, my wife is not a vegetarian and usually wants meat when we host a dinner, so I end up having to cook 2 entrees when we host.

I should also note that I am a decent cook and like doing it, so it's not that big of a deal. If I did not cook, I may have a different slant on things (and probably wouldn't eat only veg, either)

"This being San Francisco, ostensibly one of the most accepting, least judgmental cities around..."

I've lived here for going on 10 years now, and I'd have to say that, although most people are accepting, they are highly judgmental.
