Perhaps the people who had issues with this washed it in a dishwasher? I've had one for about 3 years now and use it multiple times a week, hand-washing each time. Nothing has worn out, it works perfectly and I find it plenty large enough for a nice lunchtime salad. I even bought one for my boss as she was so jealous of mine! First of all, I'm sure your coworker will be touched that you're thinking of them, it's really difficult sometimes at pot-luck events if you can't eat gluten! Meringue cookies are a great dessert to make, everyone in my office loves them and they don't notice that they're gluten-free. I just made a holiday-inspired batch with peppermint candies crushed and added, they were a huge hit.
