If it's easier than painting the cupboards, paint the walls and/or tile (is that tile under the cabinets?). Yes, you can paint tile.

I have a friend who has painted the grooves in her cabinets, just to give it an accent. Something to consider?

This is my second year using one - I admit I was skeptical as well, but last year it was great! This year I planted the same variety in the garden and in the topsy-turvey, and the hanging plant is at least twice as big as the one in the ground.

I didn't find that it dried out too quickly - it definitely stayed moist longer than the rest of my potted plants.

@lilbee and fab - no need to buy a special bar, even if you don't have a stainless steel sink - surely you have something else steel, it doesn't matter what. I've found the edge of a spoon works well for getting under my fingernails.

Just a quick scrub under some running water works like a charm!

wrenx - when you say it like that, I feel a little sheepish. :) Thanks, though, I'll give it another shot.

Every time I've tried this with eggplant, it's ended up inedibly salty. I tried rinsing it after, but still - too salty! What am I doing wrong?

I found I needed to add a fair amount of liquid when blending - maybe 1/2 of a cup - to get it to a consistency I liked. But it was very good.

Someone asked how strong the broccoli flavor was - after dinner, my fiance asked me where the broccoli I'd been prepping had gone. :) I could clearly taste it in the dish, but apparently it wasn't too strong!

I made these last night and got glowing reviews! I wasn't sure when the paste was done drying out in the pan, and eventually decided enough time had passed - the tip of waiting for it to form a ball seems like a better indicator than holding up a spoon.

I think next time I'll try the tip of using half milk.
