I have the green one! I found it in the As-Is and bought it for the kids' bedroom. It's comfy and perfect for 3 kids to sit and read.
It actually looks pretty nice indoors as well.

Seriously why all the fuss over $50 a month on groceries for 1 person???
Our total income is $2000/month as I am staying home wih the kids. I spend $350/month for my family of 4 on groceries. I only buy organic milk, eggs and fruits. I live in a small 2 bedroom apt and our rent is $500 including utiities. We just bought out first car and pay $200/mth including insurance. Our monthly laundry bill is $80. Our phones are $60/mth for 2 cells. I clip coupons and match weekly sales with coupons. Including haircuts and diaper shopping add another $100/mth.
We eat out once in a while and same goes for movies. we do not have cable or a landline.
I think living frugally is not as difficult as ppl make it seem to be. I was raised in a very lavish environment and had to learn all these tips and tricks.
Anyone who puts their mind to it can do it! and u dont have to starve to live frugally.

I disagree with the statement above! Mostly because I'm an Ikea addict...and that for good reason!
I got married right out of college and had kids pretty much soon after! Not only could we afford Ikea but we have the most sturdy and practical stuff and let's not forget trendy!
I hate it when ppl try to compare Ikea with Laura Ashley or other brands...some of us might not like Laura as much as u do:)
I have never had a problem with Ikea and along with other items as i get older i will continue to shop at Ikea.
My entire apartment is Ikea right now and has been for the past 6 years and with 2 kids and a 3rd on the way, multiple playdates and my husband's less than human behaviour, no other furniture could have lasted us and still looked great!

I would once again love to live simply! With 3 kids it's not as easy but try my best to keep everythingh from toys to clothes to a minimal. It is freeing not to own as much. I am always looking around and wonder ho we accumulated so much stuff and the thought of ever moving scares me to death!
I am in the process of decluttering and it is sad when a lot of the items don't sell and end up going to charity...the waste of hard earned money is now making me only buy essentials and stuff that i really need or love!

That is an amazing apartment! I personally like a little colour but regardless it's genius! I do agree that it seems to be an American mindset about having a huge house in order to have children! I get looks from ppl when we respond that no we r not moving into a bigger apartment just because we will have 3 kids.
I think it's cruel that people wait half their lives to settle and buy that huge house and then have kids. Kids do not require huge spaces they only require love and attention. Plus living in a smaller space allows families to be outdoors more. Hence, avoiding the obesity issue!
Maybe the children from large houses with a million video games should be taken!

Ok! i have ur lifestyle. 2 flights of stairs and constant bus and train rides. Any Maclaren or Combi savvy or sport are perfect for this lifestyle. Both fold with 1 hand and are super light. We have 2 kids and literally went through atleast 15 strollers before I figured out these 2 are the lightest and most practical strollers for this lifestyle. The only other suggestion i can give is also is invest in a nice comfy diaper bag like the JJcole system diaoer bag or the skip hop via messenger. Both the strollers have tiny baskets so u'll need a diaper bag taht is comfy and easy to access. Both can easily hang on the handles of ur stroller and are comfy on ur shoulders.

I am an IKEA addict! I own almost everything Ikea and mostly from the AS IS. And yes as AndreaU said I don't feel bad about being an Ikeaaholic since it's nice to be able to upgrade my place every year or 2 years!

I would die for a dingy basement and washer/dryer in the building! I have to walk 2 blocks to the laundromat!
However, cheap rent and a nice, laid back landlord who keeps giving me stuff from his basement makes up for it!

Thankyou everyone for all the lovely suggestions! I am definitely repainting and i do love the idea of a lighter blue. i might go with an eggshell finish as opposed to flat since it'll be easier to clean up. I am restricted in attaching shelving or a tv on the walls since it is a rental.
Now with the lovely arrangent of the room... We will try them and i am hoping we figure something out! I am def. getting baskets for the entertainment center. Ikea has these built in doors and drawers in white...what do u guys suggest? should i go with those for the entertainment center? The entertainment center is attached to the wall so it is safe in that sense.
This room is shared equally by adults, children and our many overnight guests. So i definitely love the idea of adding a few of kid sized pieces to it!
Also Would it make sense if i moved the mirror to the wall between the windows, behind the sofa and added some black and white pics of the kids on the wall where the mirror exists?
Thanks and please keep the comments coming!

2 kids, 3rd on the way..720 sq feet...yes we need to keep some areas toy free. Our solution is 1 toy box and what does not fit or does not work as decor is gone! The kids mostly play in their bedroom or the living room but have to clean up b4 bedtime! However, once a week during my deep cleaning, i do find those choo choos and matchbox cars under the fridge somehow!

we take the garbage out daily...we have 2 kids and everything from food scraps to diapers to lost toys goes in the trash. We also do the dishes at night mainly bcoz cockroaches scare us! We have a small apartment and it can stink up rather quickly and get infested even faster!
We do pick upmtoys b4 bed! that's our lifesaver!

I'm with MamaChilanga! Although we live in a 2 bedroom apartment...on;y by default..our 80 yr old neighbour passed away and we got it! but back to the topic...we were in a 1 bedroom with 2 kids and i would love to see how other families do it! It needs it's own category!
BTW having been raised abroad i believe only americans are obsessed with separate spaces for kids...most ppl universally live with 5-6 kids in 1-2 bedroom houses!
