wow!! Had no idea that most ppl do once a week! I do once a month for everything (sheets, pillow covers, duvet). we don't wear shoes at home though & we only use the bed when we go to sleep. So no eating, reading etc on bed.. Feeling subconscious on my hygiene habit now..

Excellent space. The before & after was truly amazing. Even though the living/dining area was narrow, he fully utilized the high ceiling to compensate for that & that guess bedroom? Ingenious! Kudos to Scott.

I love Masamichi Katayama's design - totally surreal & fantastic. And LOVE their company website. In fact I just got back from Tokyo & I was at Pass the Baton & Godiva's store in Shibuya.

I was completely bowled over by his design. My husband, being my designated photographer was clicking away in Pass the Baton. Hands down the most gorgeous vintage/repurpose shop I have ever been! If you go to Tokyo, you absolutely have to head to Pass the Baton Omotosendo store. I have posted photos of the awesome store at my blog too: http://quirkygastro.blogspot.com/2011/01/tokyo-vintage-pass-baton.html

what?! selling anthro catalog online? That's a bit crazy..

OK.. I'm another ANTHRO nerd. I absolutely ADORE their stuff and yes I kept all their catalogs too.. I've been missing anthro since I move back to Sydney. Btw Sibella Court styled some of Anthro's home section set (I think September) & she's having a flea market sale tomorrow.. in Sydney OZ :)) She's the author of etcetera (etc) which is sold in anthro.

Coincidentally I was just ranting abt anthro & Sibella's flea market on my blog too! So it is very fitting to find all my anthro groupies here... lol

Wall-to-Wall Carpet in the Bathroom: Ewww or Ahhh?

I am in Sydney where homes are not insulated. My windows vibrate when the wind blows in the winter and it is COLD even though it's "just" 10 degrees outside. We bought foam window insulater and lined all the doors and windows. I use regular curtains. It's difficult when the walls are not insulated too feel warm at home. I definitely feel your pain!

i totally agree with cheekyliving. I think having a darker wall i.e. dark eggplant purple will frame your artwork which has a white border and the view from outside. At the moment with the white, the view and the artwork is a bit lost I think. the other wall which is currently brown can be painted white.

Moving into a place where you know what it looks like is helpful. I just moved internationally and though I dislike my prev apartment initially, I loved it at the end because of the effort I put in to make it looked nice. Everyone that came to my place loved it. It was quite sad when we have to "dismantle" the place.

Saying that, I am quite excited about starting at a new place and redecorate with different things. It's the in between when you have not achieve a finish look with the new place because of budget or things you cannot change in the apartment that's frustrating.

We are creature of habits. Loosing that familiarity is always daunting at first. At times like this, I will find myself going back to all my fave blogs and mags to look for inspiration to RE-NEST. :)

Destination posters. I see it everywhere now in Sydney. Tea towel, coasters, evry little thing... I still like it when it's well used but because it's every where now, I just don;t get the urge to buy it anymore.

I have been thrifting in TO for the last 3 years and there's definitely some thrift finds to be had:

1. Look out for Rogue Galley in Leslieville's half yearly clearance, he clears out things in his storage and some friends of his will bring some of their mid-century stash to sell as well.. very very good value.

2. Queen west - look for Abrahams trading - Best vintage price for affordable price.

3. The junction - Mark's shop (he does not put up signage!) It's across the road from Smash (an industrial vintage shop - very cool but Smash price has trending towards expensive these days)

4. Funky Junky in Kensington market (very close to European meat shop)

5. Also look out for the Christie's shop - best antique and vintage show in Canada - twice a year..

I have just moved from TO and I have to say I will miss Mark and Abraham's shop dearly... I am now in Syney down under and a great find is hard to come by and definitely more expensive.

Good luck in thrifting!!
