On a somewhat related note, I sent the following note to the parks commissioner earlier. I'm ignorant when it comes to the parks policy but would it be possible to claim the wood of a dead tree?

"The tree in Cuyler Gore Park (Fort Greene, Brooklyn) fell in front of me last night; I passed by it this morning and saw how far up the tree it had snapped. Rather than cutting down the entire stump, would it be possible to commission a local artist to carve a sculpture out of it at its current location? I think most trees are just converted to mulch correct? If it's not feasible to carve something out of the dead tree at its current location, I'm sure some artists at 3rd Ward (Bushwick) would love to come by and take large chunks of the tree away to work on."

Personally, I'm finding this to be a great post. I'm planning to move out to Portland for up to six months later this year or early next year. Mainly to take some time off work to snowboard and hopefully to land a fun internship opportunity. I just need a change of scenery, born and raised in the East Coast.

Anyway. Is Portland really 1.5 hours from Mt. Hood? Every time I do some research it seems to get further and further. Don't know if I should live somewhere between Hood and Portland or whether or not to just live in Portland and deal with the commute to the mountain.

Tough, the Nelson is more iconic to me, the way the light filters through it is great. With that said, the Knoll is way more comfortable.

As for the best? Going with the Nelson on this one.

Cool! You know what I'd do with this? Paint an outline of the rest of the clock's body on the wall! I've been wanting to put a large clock on a wall between two windows, but didn't want to go with the boring old clock hands only. This would be perfect!

I have the artemis (clear version). Catches a LOT of dust... but probably because it's clear which makes it more noticeable. I don't know if the wall control is poorly produced or if I did a bad job wiring it, but the remote burned out a month into its usage. I've sat on it for the last 1.5 years, finally looked up getting a replacement wall control earlier this evening. Another $40 down the drain.

I've had my bedroom set (bisect) for about two years now, ordered it over the web and was very happy with it when I received it. Still very happy with the quality and feel of the product.

Unfortunately the store was somewhat of a letdown. My sentiments are similar to dark's. Though some of the furniture looked well built and solid, there were too many other pieces sprinkled throughout that reminded me of IKEA. And the prices for some of these pieces approached DWR's!

I'm still a fan of CB2, but you really have to pick out the good from the bad.
