The bike rack shelf is not in the #1 link. Am I reading this wrong?

I have the exact same secretary desk as in #3! Anyone know anything about it?

I never loved turquoise in highschool, but now I love my 1960's, Chicago-made turquoise chair. Love it against the yellow walls!

This is why my boyfriend (and his six bikes and three snowboards) won't move in with me, even though I own my place and he rents.

ARGH.

Oooh! My neighborhood, how exciting.

Love that they incorporate locally made (but internationally known) designers like Iannone and Nakashima. The Nakashima studio is a 30 minute drive from Philadelphia.

I love the bee piece. It's fun without being over-the-top whimsical.

Whoa, Erin, where do you sell your paintings? Here in Philadelphia?

And, YAY for more Philly on AT!

My kitchen table. My uncle made it by hand for me about six months ago. He just passed away this week.

The table is super versatile. It could someday be a desk, or an entry table. It is a medium brown/reddish color that doesn't clash with most woods. The hardware and clean lines my uncle picked work well with modern or vintage furniture.

The act that I aesthetically love it, plus have special memories of my uncle from it, make it so important.

@Miss*Lisa: in my case, the cost was for the looks/form since it was semi-out in the open, although function was important too.

I'm going to be a downer here... but, after my sister was held up in her own home by one of her own knives, the police were adamant that people should hide their knives in cabinets or at least drawers, not in plain sight.

Just a practical thought.

I pre-ordered the ModKat months ago (and got 20% off!) because I had looked literally everywhere for a good cat box solution. I have a one BR with no appropriate place for a litter box.

So, honestly, after so much searching and stress, the cost was worth it.

I slowly introduced it to my 12-pound cat, and now it's in the corner of my living room (!) behind a chair.

Plus: It's attractive, barely noticeable, does NOT look like a cat box, is easy to clean due to the liner and the swivel top, my cat likes it.

Minus: My cat still manages get cat litter on the floor.

Overall, I am a fan and still happy with my investment. If I had a place to hide the cat box, I wouldn't have purchased it. And no, I am not going to replace it every year.

After searching low and high, I finally gave in (high price be damned!) and pre-ordered www.modkat.com.

It comes in in Sept. Let's pray my fat cat fits.

I am trying to do this too, to my Philly apartment. I have wide windowsills inside -- perfect for plants. (I do feel guilty about taking up my cat's window space though!)

Any ideas on the windows that get most light? Southern-facing, I've heard?

And believe it or not, Chestnut Hill is still within city limits, but it has its own village-feel. And it's superclose to the Wissahickon.

Hmm, that's a good question. I would probably hang a stranger's portrait if there was another element to it - an interesting scene, or twist, rather than a straight-up portrait.

I am longing to have portraits of family/friends to hang though.
