We do this in my small house. It's the only way. My young kids are very involved in the process. Before any birthday or toy receiving holiday, we collectively decide which toys need to go to make room for more. They don't get more than they made room for.

I would never buy one...my kids pull out costumes and turn their snowmen into pirates and construction workers and whatever else suits their mood. However, I think it would make a really fun Christmas gift for cousins or our friends down the street. And we could totally MAKE our own kit.

My mom had a similar activity when we were kids... the "What Can I Do?" can. Sometimes we'd pull out something fun. Other times we'd get stuck dusting the piano.

I have Noritake's Imperial Platinum. It's timeless. I got it for my wedding years ago and have never regretted it.

I don't think my friends have any appreciation for my decor. Though I adore my friends, their sense of style includes heading over to Rooms 2 Go, picking up an entire living room and plopping it in their own space. YAWN. I think they feel sorry for me...that I don't really own much that I bought brand new. But I love my garage sale finds and upcycled Craigslist projects and splashes of color all over. Little do they know my space is much more fashion forward than theirs.
