Mine was the 1983 better homes and gardens new junior cookbook. I saw it on the shelf this weekend while in my mother's kitchen. I thought the jam filled muffins were just about the coolest thing ever. http://www.amazon.com/Better-Homes-Gardens-Junior-Cook/dp/069601145X/ref=sr_1_10?ie=UTF8&qid=1321418613&sr=8-10 What Was Your First Cookbook? |

Is that sofa a futon? As a fellow JP resident I have a typically narrow stairway (no sofas that cannot be disassembled need apply) and have been looking to replace my battered guest room futon frame for ages. I love the look of that. Rachel's "Retro Mod" Room |

I really I have the pampered chef mandolin that others have mentioned and I really don't like it, it so safe it is barely usable. The veggie holder is too small to slice things whole and you have to use it with the slicing blade to push the safety away. I would prefer a less expensive one that has few safety features so I can use it how I want. What Is the Best Mandoline to Buy? Good Questions |

my mother and I (two avid cooks and bakers) wanted to try making macarons and I must say we were nervous. We researched and prepped and when it came time to start we had trouble because we were SURE they wouldn't come out well, but the were awesome! the only thing we didn't have down pat was our piping but the taste, look and texture of the cookies was awesome. i think they do take attention to detail and some basic baking skills but they were not as hard as they seemed. @Tazer. Things have loosened up a bit in MA. Liquor Stores can open on Sundays all year after 12:00 and three stores per grocery store chain can sell booze, which works for me because I'm in Boston but most grocery stores outside of the city are dry. Where can I find a fabulous shopping trolley like the one in the picture? I have been searching for a cute one, but here in Boston the ones I have seen are hideous plaid monstrosities. A Food-Lover's Walk Down Rue Montorgueil in Paris Market Report |

I am a total nerd so I say go loud and proud with it! I like the coffee table idea so you can actually play it. I would chop it down, cover up the faux wood with something that coordinates with the other decor using super glossy spray paint, get the metal and glass looking ultra shiny and I think it would be amazing! I second the fat boy recommendation, we have them in the library where I work and they are awesome. You can sit upright, or lounge on them. Students are always napping on them in the periodicals and I like to use them during staff meetings. In Search of a Beanbag Chair That Doesn't Suck | Apartment Therapy Boston |

Cute place! I have the same layout too, but my apartment is in rough shape from decades of differed maintenance and unprofessional "improvements". Emily Nate's Cozy Cocoon House Tour | Apartment Therapy Boston |

I make cardamom hot chocolate. Cocoa, milk, a little sugar, a little salt and two pod of cardamom on the stove for 15 minutes. It is divine. From the Spice Cupboard: Cardamom | Apartment Therapy The Kitchn |

I get easily overwhelmed in the wine store and I am very cheap so I hold myself to one criteria that facilitates quick selection with generally good results. I pick Portuguese wines. There generally are not very many to choose from and they are almost always affordable and drinkable. An added bonus is that it makes my husband swell with national pride. I have this Kenmore 18 inch portable dishwasher http://www.sears.com/shc/s/p_10153_12605_02214412000P, and it is awesome. My husband (who has dish washing duty most nights) thinks its the greatest thing ever. We're in a rental so we needed a portable. It got clogged once after about a year and a half but Sears sent someone over for free even though it was out of warranty. It's energy star compliant and uses less water than hand washing. We paid $400 for it on sale, which is worth the hours we have recovered. Apartment Therapy The Kitchn | What Are the Best Countertop or Portable Dishwashers? Good Questions |

The Gardner is tripling their size with a Renzo Piano addition, which is very exciting aside from the fact that I work next door and the noise this week has been unbelievable. It's a ridiculously beautiful space as it is, and the contemporary counterpoint next door will be very interesting. Apartment Therapy Boston | The Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum |

Give the US a little credit, any good cafe knows how to make a good strong iced coffee or americano. There are some European countries that are not even familiar with the concept of iced coffee, like Portugal for instance. For our first few days there one August my Portuguese speaking husband tried to explain what we were looking for to numerous puzzled faces. Most cafes there don't even keep enough ice on hand to make a single iced anything. we eventually surrendered to espresso and never looked back. My bedroom is almost always a disaster. My grandfather would call my grandmother's messy side of the bedroom her "irish corner", and my husband thinks that's hilarious and has applied it to my messy side of the bedroom, in the rest of the house clutter drives me nuts but I can blissful ignore it in the bedroom as long as I can't see it from a reclined position. I would love to know about the price range. I had the heartbreak of a sofa not fitting earlier this year in my awkward JP hallway. I had to downgrade from IKEA to a futon, it was depressing. Apartment Therapy New York | Divon Sofas: The Sofa to Fit Through Your Doorway Boston |
