h again, the room had original pine sub-floors but the knots in several places had given way. we got hold of some left over engineered floor (originally from Floorworks in Toronto) that we put down. hope this helps!

Thank you for the comments! Theplumathree, Muchachabonita is closed now and i have not other way of contacting the seller. Blangwagon, if you email Nagisa at Makura, she can order in some fabric and make it for you.

Loving the floors, the view, the kitchen and dining space. Also the clever shelves. Overall brilliant use of space but not crazy about the amount of red.

My favorite so far! Place does have beautiful bones, but the simple, selective decoration makes it a stunner!

thank you everyone for your comments. the small-cool contest this year has some great entries and we are excited to be nominated!

this was our first place together and it will always be special to us. these pictures are from a few days prior to putting the house on sale -- hence the very "distilled" look. we had already packed up some of our prized possessions including all our books (usually parked in the den), our reproduction hans-wegner folding rope chair that usually sits in our living room and our two precious mainecoons! but thats it. we have no tv.

since we have long-haired cats, we prefer to just have a few furniture pieces so that its easier to dust and vacuum around. it also makes the place seem larger.

ddg425, minxy, the piece above the sofa is a canvas box that is lit from behind and enveloped with a twig-type treatment that is getting to be quite popular now. we got it from philz on queen street east in toronto.

JD2002, the sliding doors came standard with the loft, as did the full-height kitchen cabinets :)

thanks everyone, and we hope to share our current home (when its less of a project) soon!

love the wallpaper! it reminds me of an episode of colin and justin's home heist on hgtv canada. they used a similar print for a bedroom. for inspiration check out the photo gallery for episode 4.

this is terrible. new construction should be waranteed for a period of time. i live in toronto and am glad that as a new construction buyer, the units come with a one year warrantee. its a provincial law that the builders have to follow.

however, people still run into problems with unit/builder, relatively minor though when compared to what the article describes.
