F... all the neg. comments about this, they are great. My wife had made one of these prior to ever seeing this post and they look and work great. We get compliments on it all the time. The ones for sale are $80 and up and are no better. If you don't get repurposed design then you should pull your head out of your .... and get with it.

To my knowledge these single casting plastic chairs were first done in France in the mid 80's and rumor is that Iconic French designer Pierre Poulin was invlved in the orignal design. As bland and generic as they have become, if you put them in contect they were very inovative for the day. They are easy to stamp out by the millions and cost nothing and hold up outdoors in any climate. Sort of the ulitimate in industrial design for the masses. Unfortunatly the actual designs these days are really lacking. They could be so much better like the Jersey Seymour design for Magis.

I like the fact that he has one of his plastic dogs peeing on the room divider tree in the solerium. Way to go Eero!

Great work! The fabricating and detail looks top notch. I assume the seats are molded ply? If so, even better. I build things for a living so I can appreciate the work that went into these. I hope you do well! Its tough being a small contemporary furniture maker these days.

I hate to be the nay sayer here but shipping containers are not the way to go for a dwelling. They are 8.5" wide and 40" long which is too narrow to be comfortable. Unless you cut them up and span them like this house is, they are too impractical In which case there is probably not much savings from traditional building materials. I'd hate to live in a steel box in Houston in the summer too. Go to the google maps street view of it at 206 Cordell, Houston, TX. It looks like it was sighted in really bad area with a view of industrial warehouse across the street.
