Quick Tip: Clean Your Toilet With Kool-Aid

I was surprised to be featured in this week's challenge, but it definitely sparked stronger resolution to clean up and out my storage shelves. http://www.flickr.com/photos/christyna/5118421550/in/set-72157625066530337/

Much better! Don't you think?

Look at the progress I've made on the open shelves our pots & pans live in. http://ow.ly/2ZKZJ

Horray for the Cure!

I haven't trashed much, but my kitchen has gotten a thorough reorganizing with several occasional use appliances going behind closed doors.

My kitchen is already much more cheery and organized, though one 'island' of clutter remains.

@sewtrashy- You can do it! Good luck!!

I put all the 'company' dishes up in a top cabinet, and moved our 4 plates, 4 bowls (2 each large & small) to a smaller cabinet & shifted several large appliances off of open shelves, into the large cabinet formerly occupied by dishes.

Already washing dishes seems easier & the kitchen lighter.

Today I tackle the small tools, reamer, wine keys, etc.

@Mochene- of course it's ok if your week is full. Baby steps! I bet you are straightening as you bake, just a wee bit, anyway.

I am washing & wiping down my shelves one at a time. 1) I don't have much counter space & 2) I only have tidbits of time for the rest of the week.

@littlestfinch - You are a lucky finch, indeed!

I've purged our food stocks, but not cleaned the shelves yet. I have remedial dish washing to take care of before I can justify soaping up my cabinets.

I already feel much better, knowing exactly what food I have on hand. Horray KC!

Yesterday we installed the deep freeze and spare fridge in the garage. Today I am looking at all our food and purging the old. Weirdest find so far is half a bulb of desiccated celery, sadly shriveled in the back corner of the fridge.

Oh, thanks Meg for the tips! I'm going to use them to try to sell some of my *very good* stuff this weekend. ;-)

This post's author bought low & sold high. That's making a profit- good job. He did not buy illegally or unconscionable low and sell at ridiculously high prices to a captive or disadvantaged buyer.

The people who @cassielynn describes are a pain in the neck, but just filter your search by what you are willing to pay and move on.

An item is worth to YOU what YOU are willing to pay for it.

You could also frame a piece of fabric that has a color and design that you like in the space and cover it that way.

Built in shelves seem like more work than it's worth for a temporary situation.

I buy soap nuts at New Living in Houston, TX. They had to give me a free sample to overcome my skepticism, but now I happily recommend soap nuts.

Mona- I would guess that your 'regular apple vinegar' is the apple cider vinegar that the recipe is calling for.

I would try it with any fruitbased natural vinegar, with out hesitation.

Let us know how it works out for you!

It's a beautiful apartment. When does Lawrence move in?

I see he's gotten a start, and that he has good taste in furniture, but I don't see any energy or life in this apartment.

Blank canvas, indeed.

I think that using the hallway as the closet/dressing room/library/storage is brilliant. You wouldn't want that stuff in your kitchen or your bedroom!

Good work with a tiny space. My husband and I live in 800 sq ft, and your whole apartment would fit in our living room.

A little more diversity would have been more interesting. 3 Scandinavian kitchens & 2 North American. yawn
