My roommate kept throwing away my iced coffee in the fridge because she thought the milk had gone bad, so I agree it's not the best for coffee. I like to mix it up between soy, help and nut based milks because it seems like too much of anything is not a good thing. I eat so much soy already I'm always looking to mix it up.

I had a bag of this in my freezer left over from chili. The other day I was making a big taco dinner but some non meat eaters were coming. I soaked the tvp in water for a little while and then cooked it on the stove mixed with a packet of taco seasoning. It was very easy and a big hit.

I couldn't live without my toaster oven. I use it every day. I wouldn't use one of those pop up toasters, though. Also there are certain leftovers that are hard to reheat without a microwave, or reheat strange. Plus the oven can take a long time to heat up enough to reheat my taco truck burrito whereas the microwave makes quick work out of it. Plus you use less when you use the microwave. No pots or pans to clean. Which means you can have less of other things if you don't have much room.
I inherited a kitchen aid stand mixer and I love it. If I had to keep it in the bathroom I would. It brings me such joy. Sure, I don't need it. But I don't think that makes it any less worthy.
What I don't use is my regular blender. I do have an immersion blender that has a tiny cup that attaches to it. It's perfect for a single serving of smoothie or milkshake. I use it to make hummus. Anything bigger I can blend in the pot. It fits in a drawer.
I could do without my coffee maker. A french press or small espresso kettle would be fine, as I learned since our coffee pot broke last month. I don't drink much coffee, though.

That window doesn't get much light so the records are fine (it's my window :)) I just made curtains for it based on a picture I probably saw on this blog.
I'm not a fan of blocking windows but I love when a piece of furniture fits well underneath one. It's built in day time lighting for your knickknacks. Plus the casement windows in our apartment are not so pretty so it's nice to draw the eye away from them a bit. My desk is also under a window. I love being able to look out the window while I'm working. The window ledge acts as storage for my pencils and paintbrushes.

That table is really cute. I'm wondering about those paintings. They sort of look like wood grain.

klacko go to the flickr of the guy who took this picture and i'm sure he can tell you where he got the table:

Ikea sells just bases. Glass tables worry me. Or you could get a cool metal outdoor table. The ones made of mesh. If you put a glass top over it you could use it indoors no problem and it'd be something a little different. It's a pretty standard size. There is also this spray that you spray on one side of glass so it looks sort of mirror like on the other side if you wanted to dress it up even more. You can buy it at Michaels.

Mighty Cone is great! I went there twice while I was in Austin for SXSW. I want to learn how to make my own. The fries were great, too. I wish one would open up in Atwater!

If the candle has a heavy scent when it's unlit I won't buy it because I know it will smell even stronger when lit. I don't like scented candles around food but one in the bathroom or the bedroom is fine, provided that surrounding candles lack scent. There are some really yummy ones out there. Lavender, balsam fir, vanilla and citrus are my favorites. Anything with some obscure name like Ocean Breeze reminds me of fabric softener. I want the candle scent to share it's name with an actual plant or fruit. Scented candles are one of the few things that I wouldn't cheap out on. You get what you pay for. I went into a CO Bigelow store and they had some great candles. http://www.bigelowchemists.com

I just bought some at Trader Joes for 1.29! I love them mixed in with the tulips or other red flowers. I have mine right next to my computer and the smell is perfect. It feels like spring now. My mother has an amazing collection of colored glass bud vases and every year she fills them with bulbs (most paper whites) to bring a little spring to her cold New England townhouse.

I love this. The costs of plants can add up. Those videos were great (because they were short).

I keep books stacked in my fireplace for lack of shelves. The top is boarded up so I hung a tiny ikea chandelier leftover from a bare bulb in my previous apartment. You can barely see it. I like the element of surprise it adds. I must note I keep books that I have already ready in the fireplace because it's hard to grab one from the stack. And yes, they are color coded. All black and white.

I like it. The zones are so specific. I love any site that can give me suggestions on what to plant based on where I live, what light I get and how often I can water.
