@fromage - yup, but moderation for good health isn't specific to diabetics - it's best practice for everyone!

Diabetic-friendly food is just called food. Diabetics can eat anything we darn well please, we just need to adjust our insulin dosage dependent on the nutritional makeup of the food. Perhaps this article would better be described as Cooking Healthy Meals for Type II, non-insulin dependent diabetics.

Capitol with an "o" not an "a" - but I'll forgive you, just like I forgave our landlord who misspelled it on craigslist, a mistake that allowed us to get an amazing place for an amazing deal after it sat on the market for a few months!

You just got this linguist all excited, then dropped me down when I saw that it was a military phonetic alphabet! Still cute, but not what I was expecting.

Tried to look, but Architectural Digest's website was so covered in pop-up ads, I just left. An ad that pops up over the screen for every single page load? Ridiculous.

You need to use a desiccating storage box of some kind, no matter what you go with. You can but the desiccator in a larger, more fun box or decorate it somehow, but as I'm sure you know, HA's are expensive, keeping them in good shape is way more important then finding something cute to store them in. I bet you could make your own dry storage box with drying beads, that'd be a fun project to involve him in too!

@Erikthered: you are not supposed to LIGHT a spark during the sabbath... but the warming drawer is turned on PRIOR to the start of the sabbath, and kept on (at the same level) for the duration, and doesn't run hot enough to cook anything.

I just assumed they were fake names... I mean, Sid & Nancy? It's certainly possible, but my first thought was that it was mocked-up. Great idea either way!

For those that didn't have good results, my suggestion would be to let the bananas thaw out a bit. Straight out of the freezer, mine didn't do much. Then I let it sit out for about 20 minutes, then retried it, and oh, yes, perfect and delicious! (I have a mini too).

I've been trying to find a way to keep my sewing machine "out" and I love that I see yours peeking out from under the leaning desk. Do you use that surface as sewing surface, and if so, does it work ok? I only sew about once every month or so, but I'll do it a lot less if I keep my sewing machine in my storage unit in the laundry room (where it currently is). Thanks!

My husband and I do this with our next door neighbors - every night one of the four of us cooks a meal for four, and we eat dinner together. At first, we planned to do the other 3 dinners on our own but it works out so well that we end up doing it every night most weeks. We have similar tastes and cooking styles (and allergies), though, and knew this walking into the arrangement. I'll be sad when we move and we have to cook dinner every night again.
