"You basically become your own Ikea manufacturer." Umm, except for the affordability factor! Those clamps are pretty expensive! I used their "Configurator" to see how much it would be to buy clamps to make my own sidboard type thing and it was like $300 JUST for the clamps.

Not for the kitchen, but reminded me of this with skippy jars for screws.

philppat - I live in Europe and I have looked at these exact plates at our local IKEA, they WERE actually made in Europe.

Although I totally get your point!!

princesspea - my kids would be right up on that thing too. It would be a fruitless effort to try to keep them off.

But I think it is a fantastic simple idea! (Simple and doable makes it that much better!)

markemge - I don't know what MHz they are are, but mine has more then one frequency setting so you can find one that works for you. We've never had any feedback on ours, but someone once told me that the UK has laws about what frequencies things like thes CAN work on to avoid that kind of interference, so this might not be relevant to you in the US.

They've had these for a few years I think in the UK. I got one when my middle child was born to replace a more expensive digital one that went bust and it has worked just fine for us. You can set it to be "on" all the time, or just to be activated when baby makes noise, which saves batteries. It can also plug in, which makes sense for the baby end.

Not fancy but it has worked well with no interference for us. I just use rechargable batteries in it too.

This would actually be good if you walk to the store with two kids and you want to hold both their hands, but have a shopping bag in one. I know I have wished I had an extra hand to hold onto on several occasions.

pinksparklies: I definitely know that many kids are just fine on the inexpensive seats, but they are all different. If your kid isn't comfortable it makes learning to use the potty pretty impossible.

We actually tried the IKEA one and a couple other of the cheap smallish ones and my son was just sooo uncomfortable. He was also uncomfortable on one of the seats you stick right on the toilet. The only one he was ever comfy on was the big Baby Bjorn one. It was worth the $25 I paid for it at the time because he could actually use it.

And it definitely IS a comfy potty chair because my younger son and various other kids we know have loved it too.

But I definitely glad the IKEA potty worked for you. I would have been over the moon if it had been good for us.

The big Baby Bjorn potty (the one shown here) is the most comfortable potty my kids ever had. We had a few before that but they were not comfy for my oldest (who was tall for his age, even at 2.5 when he potty trained) to sit on so he didn't like to use them. The Baby Bjorn was the only one we found he found comfy. It was also very comfy for my middle son who was not as tall as my oldest.

It is also very easy to clean, and to teach the child to empty (fiddly is a no-go in my book for a potty).

They are so good that we bought one to leave at both grandparents too. It was well worth it because in about 6 months child number three will be using them too.

Baby Bjorn potties pair comfort with practicality.

I have to say, I don't like people being nasty online, but I read the first two comments and I laughed in spite of myself. (I feel really icky now. I am probably going to some sort of commenter's hell now.)

I get the "industrial" look it is going for, but something about this picture right now just isn't that pleasing to the eye which is what I think people are railing about. I think it would maybe look better if the stuff on it wasn't so symetrically placed. Maybe if the equipment was all over to one side and the trinkets were differently laid out (or some of them were removed and other stuff went there)? I don't really know, I think it looks like one of those things that would have to be played with to find the right arrangement.

But in a broader view (ie not a photograph) it might be totally pleasing to look at. And if you like it who gives a crap. I'd just leave it if you are happy.

But please don't take people's comments personally. It is the nature of people online. It makes it difficult for you when it is something personal to you they are saying things about I know. I know many people who've had experiences like this and it made them think about whether they were happy posting certain things online from then on. All you can do is live and learn I guess! :)

Ditto on the not wanting to clean it, cakowalik! Um put the seat up, stand on a stool, pee in the toilet and flush it away boys. I have enough experience with my kids to know that thing would be covered in pee and smelling up the bathroom in no time. And who wants urine setting there all day? Not me. A child's potty is bad enough to clean, I try to get them onto a real flushing toilets as soon as possible.

Just looks like more trouble than it would be worth to me.

We had a boon frog and it didn't fit some of our odd shaped toys. It also wouldn't stay on the wall (although I see someone has posted about the command hooks which is a god idea.

I saw the Kuster Pail online somewhere, thought about a kind of rubber/plastic pail with handles I had and then drilled some holes in the bottom. It is a squatter shape than the Kuster, holds our akward toys, is the same colour as our bathroom and didn't cost £25. (I think the pail was £2 originally).

Have the kid kneel between your knees facing AWAY from you and then get them to lean their head back toward you and open up. Seriously. You can see all their teeth and brush them more easily without poking them and making it sore. The kid also thinks it's funny if you make it silly.

I either let them do it their-self before or after this so they get practice too, but this let's me get all the teeth clean and I can SEE what I am doing.

My dentist recomended it years ago with my oldest and it was the single greatest toothbrushing tip I ever got.

I love the wire shelving as an open wardrobe! I think you may have just solved the storage problem we have in our sons room. Currently we have this: http://www.jojomamanbebe.co.uk/detail.php?productid=ST18216&proddesc=Wooden Clothes Stand&supercategory=BRN00043&branch=&wcategory=CAT00336&catdesc=&super=0040BRN00043~0010BRN00060~0120CAT00336&treecode=TRE00009</a href> for hanging space which is FAR to small and not sturdy in the least (after many attempts to fix it with wood glue and screws it is now strategically duct taped!) This is perfect, will go with the room, is easy and STURDY. Yay! Thank you!

I agree with Zohreh about the bunting (as we would call it in the UK) It is lovely but I would worry about it as a safety hazard where it is now.

A haberdashery means a sewing and notions shop (sell like tons of thread, buttons, bits and pieces for sewing of all types) here in the UK. When I read the title I thought "OMG, this is going to be a bathroom FULL of some sort of stylish storage for millions of buttons and ribbons etc". I was trying to figure out how this was going to work hygenically but I was excited all the same ;).

I am originally from the US though, and I know in the US habadasher is an old-fashioned word for a Men's outfitter.

I think it is really nice! It definetley has that "manly" and and jolly feel from a time gone by. :)

I've been doing this for a week now and it is suprisingly easy! I've got three kids and my hubby to cook for too.

Here is what i have found:

*You are not LIMITED to the things on the list. You can also have legumes and lentils and other veggies he does not list. This is just a simple list to give you the idea. I've just used my own judgement.

*He says in the video that the things on the 3x list are "at least 3x a week".

*The main thing for me was cutting out the convenience foods and soda (my kids didn't have the soda, I did for a pick me up!). I thought it would be hard but replacing it with green tea I haven't had any of the sugar or caffeine withdrawel I had thought I would (which I have had in the past when I tried this).

* The lists have actually made things easier for me because before my mind was all over the place about what to plan to eat and this often resulted in my buying a "ready meal" or throwing on some pasta. The lists makes it easier for me to focus and think what to eat.

* We already ate a lot of the things on the list anyway, and I don't eat a lot of meat, so red meat once a week is not hard for us.

* We already ate a lot of wholegrains, but I have replaced any bagels, buns etc with wholegrain pitas (cheaper too), whole grain bread and wholgrain buns.

*Cous cous, veggies and salad makes an easy lunch. It is also good as a side at dinner. It is wholegrain.

*The green tea has been great! I am still getting a little bit of daily caffeine but I feel much better having this rather than sugary drinks or coffee loaded with milk and sugar.

* The black and whiteness of "Yes you can have it" or "Once a week" or "Not at all" works well for me (I know it might not for everyone). If I have one cookie I have to have more. If I have a couple chips I finish the bag. It might be for everyone but the lists feel liberating to me.

I don't have 50lbs to loose, but am hanging onto some baby weight 18mths on from baby number 3. I have seen some of that studdorn weight go already this week. It is really working for me. :)

I don't like it. It doesn't strike me as a good design for an orhanage at all. I'm sure they could have solved drinking water, cooling and ventilation issues and also had a better design for the kids.

matchbookhymnal - Weren't they the best books! I can't wait until my daughter can read them too!

undercover - I totally agree with you. We named my daughter Beatrix knowing she could use that or "Bea" when she gets older. I would never have actually NAMED her "Trixie" as I wouldn't want to saddle an adult with that name. I also actually make it a point to call her "Beatrix" fairly often so she gets used to that name too and will be comfortable with it. She might even decide she wants to be called it in school for all I know.

My husband and I often comment when we hear these cutesy names as given ones "Why didn't they just NICKNAME them that?" Sometimes it boggles the mind the stuff people name their kids.
