Very nice. The one thing that could make both of these desks better would be the outgoing power cord concealed in one of the back legs like the Ikea Nordli nightstand seen here: http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/40219285/

I like the before and the after. I have a similar pair of lamps that have not found a new home in the new home. I did buy new shades for them but maybe a coat of paint on the base would help!

I also have a kitchen cabinet that someone built great drawers for but never painted. I've been using it to corral the kids' art stuff. It has been quietly working so well in one corner of our kitchen, it deserves paint!

My real problem is my very large upright Kawai piano. There is only one wall that it can fit on in the house which means all other furniture placement in the living room is dictated by the piano. And it is probably the one item that is exempt from editing.

While I've heard the name, I've never been to the Anthropologie store? site? It looks like you did a great job finding comparable items. Some of them are more appealing than the store version. I'm reminded of a Seinfeld episode where Rachel kept buying stuff from Pottery Barn? I think and telling Phoebe they were antiques she found.

Rather than buying new every year or two, consider investing in good linens you can change out by the seasons. I now have a summer duvet cover and a winter duvet cover. Changing just that sets the mood for the whole room without any expense. I change out a few accessories and decorations, and it's a fresh look. My mother does the same with towels.

Hmmm. I can do the vacuum and mop in 20 minutes but how long will it take me to remove all the accumulated papers and assorted boxes of stuff off the various surfaces (including the floor) in my kitchen? :/

Nice. I have some lamp bases I love that really need new shades and I haven't been able to find any in the right size, let alone the price of drum shades. The brass tubing is brilliant.

Brilliant use of things you already had! Great idea to use one of those doormats as a giant stamp. I always get my best ideas at 11pm!

The bentwood chairs in the first two pictures - where did you get them and do they stack? I've been looking for some affordable chairs like that! I like the accents of light blue mixed in with the earth tones.

I keep seeing beds against the window in tiny rooms like the purple room and I'm starting to like it. I think this may work for my daughter's room.

LOL at Ms. Pants. I think that is exactly what my cats would do!
And I agree there is no way either of mine would stop to dust off on the roof on the way out. It does look pretty though.

I agree with Katy. It would be nice to see this illustrated with smaller spaces with shorter ceilings. Not that I don't agree with your point. I always try to set my window hardware outside the frame so that I can completely expose the window during the day. This is especially important up north where we have such short winter days. I also find that the easier it is to open the window coverings the more likely I am to do it.

Where can I get that olive couch in the first picture??

Interesting. The shape and the velvet is reminiscent of Art Deco but the blocky feet and the lack of decoration say it's a contemporary piece. I think it's lovely. I've often fallen in love with commercial lobby furniture, classic lines, built to last and generally a comfortable but firm seat that keeps it's looks. The zgallerie one looks pretty close, I wonder how it would look without the pillows?

I love this bed for a child's bedroom or a single person. The rest of the room detracts from the graphic simplicity of the bed.
