Please consider your tenants before participating in this program. The light fixtures they provide will make it impossible for tenants to use Compact Fluorescent bulbs with a screw type adapter, and will instead require that they use pin type fluorescents with external ballasts built into the fixture. Not only will these use MORE electricity than the CFL bulbs your tenants may already have, they (and you) will be forced to pay much higher prices for the pin type bulbs. The fixtures installed may not be suitable for the application, such as putting only about 15 watts of lighting in an otherwise unlighted bathroom, forcing many tenants to provide their own lighting fixtures. This program is not really progress, it represents a huge subsidy for a few unscrupulous contractors who will not only happily replace perfectly good light fixtures with really cheap ones, but will leave holes in the walls and destroy the the usable old fixtures as part of this program. The program was designed for waste and consumption, not conservation. It will increase YOUR maintenance costs.
