Well - if your lanterns will be close to an overhead light, there's an item called "Pull Chain Socket Adapter" by Westinghouse that you can screw into the place where the bulb usually goes, and it gives you a plug outlet. (And there's an area below that where you can also put a bulb.)

I bought one last Christmas at Hobby Lobby for $2.99, but haven't used it yet, so I can't say how well it works, but just wanted to let you know that such a thing exists... Presumably the usual rules about how many cords you should plug in to one outlet apply.

Some good books in the comments that I'd forgotten about! Also, Re: The Golden Compass Series *SPOILER ALERT* it started out so interesting, and then at the end of the third book, the climax of the whole series is that the two 11-year-olds go off to have sex. The end. What's up with that? I was disappointed in the series for all leading up to that, and wouldn't recommend it for tweens.

I also wanted to say that I got a glider and ottoman for nursing, and it was the single best purchase I made for the baby, by far - it was super comfortable and I nursed in it from day one (with a boppy), read to him in it, sang him to sleep in it, and really loved it.

Your son's art looks great! I bet it really makes him proud to hang it up in his room. I'd never heard of an art pre-school before, but it sounds like a lot of fun.

What you can do depends on your baby, too. My baby really liked me to talk to him or read to him while I was nursing, and it was a great time to bond. My friend's baby really just wanted to chow down and not concentrate on anything else while she was nursing, so she would nurse on the couch and watch tv.

So well done. I love the framed handprint and footprint, and the bunny on the chair.

We tried to give up our land line a couple of years ago when we moved to a new apartment, but it so happened that the new place was near a college football stadium, and we realized that we could not get reception during football games. This was really annoying, so we went back to having a land line! If you have DSL anyway, it is cheap as a package, too.

I love the look of the first one, from Chaiv, but it does seem a little odd that the baby weighed 8.2 oz.

No, I'd be eaten alive. To be honest, I've been wondering what people with these beautiful garden areas do about mosquitoes (another southern tradition!)
