I would have kept the tile as well. The saltillo tiles looked amazing.

Thank you everyone for your generous comments! Sorry for the late response but I had no idea that AT had run this post.

The couch was from Crate & Barell. I don't think that they carry it anymore.

the urban girl: The floors were covered in multiple layers of linoleum (one layer even looked remotely like wood) and red, blue and green carpets. The floors had a thick layer of black linoleum glue on them. We had the floors professionally re-finished. They had been covered up for so long that they were in great shape.

aweekinparis: I bought the coverlet in India twenty years ago!

NYGirl202: I got the Lane Acclaim coffee table at Berlin Mart, an outdoor flea market, in New Jersey. I also have the matching end tables that I found at a Goodwill store.

Zoo: we got the rocker at a thrift store in Texas for free! They had so much inventory that they were giving away things for free to college students.

Arkay: the kitchen is between the dining room and what you call the den (which is actually my little office room). I could only submit 5 pictures to AT and there is a lot more of the house to photograph.

the urban girl: if you get your floors re-finished I would recomend that you leave the gaps (unless they are really big gaps). Wood expands in the warmer months and it needs space to expand.

Thanks again everyone and I hope I answered all your questions.

I always take clippings from plants in planters and plants growing on the side of the streets in Philly. It doesn't damage the plant and really has no impact on the growth of theplant. I don't mind people taking clippings of my plants either. Just a clipping is different from someone stealing a whole plant!

I had the same problem with a king sized bed frame that I bought at an auction in Philly. I ended up buying wood slats from Ikea and attaching them to the bed frame. It works great and it is really sturdy. You may need a beam in the middle. I attached a solid wood beam (from home depot) in the middle with metal hinges and laid the wood ikea slats on the beam.
This is what the frame looked like without the rails and slats:
