Oops, I just read that your walls can't be painted. But I still think the yan would work well with everything else anyway. ;)

I'd go with a Dr. Seuss themed room! Black, white, red, yellow, and aqua.
I would keep the walls nice and WHITE.
White crib sheet , red and white striped crib skirt layered with a black gingham one, cute cat in the hat doll...and lots of Dr.Seuss books which are not only cute in decor but also useable for story time later.
You can copy some of the pages from the books to frame in nice black frames for the wall. Add an aqua colored mat to really make it stand out.
Get some cute vinyl letters with a verse or two from one of his books for above the crib wall art.
Paint a dresser white with the drawers each a different color (try red on one, aqua on another, yellow on a third, etc) Anchor them with black knobs.
A small lamp with a striped shade is a must too. Trust me, a nightlight isn't enough light when you are changing a dirty diaper at 3 in the morning. ;)

We put glass over ours and I love it! You still get the beauty of the wood but no stains or scratches to worry about. Spills clean up much more easily too. ;)

I would use a mushroomy gray for the wall color.
I would consider hanging a creamy white board on one wall. On this board, I would hang framed fabric swatches you picked out. It would be simple enough that it wouldn't have to be a focal point. Too empty of walls tend to become just as unrelaxing as a wall with too much on it can.

I would add a 16 inch band of red paint around the room, the top of the band being 16 inches from the ceiling.
I recommend making a headboard that just mounts on the wall. You can use some simple wood and paint it with chalkboard paint. Write his name on it in chalk.
Add a toy chest to the foot of his bed. He can store his dinos in it and add some of the fun wall decals to the top of it.
Add a hanging lamp in the corner area where the blue basket is sitting. Hanging lamps don't take up any floor space for him playing and he won't ever trip on it.
I second the idea of a rug as well.

I would go with the blue on the walls and I would paint those door panels on the amoire/closet piece the red from the bedding and rug.
It would also be fun if you painted the BACK board in the cubby shelves orange (you should be able to remove the back, paint it, then screw it back on).
Don't forget to add color with a window treatment too. Stripes would be really fun. ;)
