I want to entertain more in my home - it was a New Year's Goal I intended. I want to get to a point where I am confident in my cooking and having folks over just to eat and sip wine and chit chat and not get overwhelmed by the whole prospect of "entertaining".

Cali wines are overpriced in my opinion. As someone stated earlier, I tend to gravitate towards Washington State and any NY Finger Lake Region wines I can find - in addition to wines from Chile/Argentina/S. Africa/anywhere but Cali.

When I redid my kitchen a few years back I went with the Corian. For the most part I am pleased, but I find sometimes when cleaning it streaks. Overall I am satisfied and would either choose it or Silestone the next time around.

Hellman's hands down, end of discussion. Mircle Whip is about as disgusting as a food stuff can get. It should be banned to the outter reaches of the universe!

Price - $10 and under for everyday drinking, $15 and under for special occasions.

Label - a strange, funny, colorful, artful, irreverant, label in my price range - regardless of type and origin - will get me every time.

I like to keep it simple as too many other things in my life are complicated - the wine I drink doesn't need to be.

It is tradition in our house that on Christmas morning we eat egg battered and fried oysters, cheese grits, biscuits, real Virginia Ham, and scrambled eggs. Upon finishing, we sit as a family and scratch off lottery tickets that have been placed in our respective stockings - and complain when we don't win squat! Since losing my Dad this is about the only part of Christmas I still enjoy.

While your heart is in the right place, I beg you as a child who lost her Father to complications from this very disease, do not do send him cookies.

Being recently diagnosed is a head trip in and of itself and he will be undergoing a tremendous amount of stress around it because if he wants to live and keep his limbs and stay off dialysis and keep his eyesight he needs to do a major dietary change. A better gift would be to offer to pay for a few sessions with a Registered Dietician who specializes in his type of disease - that will show how much you care.

I never leave the house on weekdays without eating something. Bowl of oatmeal, cereal, smoothie I make up, frozen waffles, quick scrambled eggs, etc. This mornining I had a cut up Granny Smith Apple with Skippy Reduced Fat Peanut Butter and a cup of Jasmine Green Tea with honey.

Try a mix of half collard greens, half broccoli rape with a neckbone or smoked turkey meat. Or you can do the above mix with just oil and garlic.

Nothing is better than a pot of straight collards and a pork neckbone and some cornbread on the side.

You can get the same thing at Century 21 in NYC for $16.99 - I know because I almost bought one. Cortland St. store. I live near the one in Paramus, going this evening to see if they have it there.

I meant Vineyard - not winery. They send their grapes to another winery to be made into wine and bottled. Which we got to visit there as well and got to go in the winery. I could not get over how immaculately clean it was!

I was in S. Africa last fall and acutally visited M'Hudi. It is the only Black owned vineyard in the country. There are Black owned labels, but theirs is the only winery. Wonderful people on a beautiful piece of land. They also make a Pinotage.

All I remember about Florence, in addition to all the shopping I did, was how much gelato I ate - eat tons of gelato. As for food, every place we ate was great food - seriously. With all the walking you do around the city you burn it all off anyway. So eat everything and drink tons of Chianti (ZERO hangover!!!!).
Have a blast!
