That is very cool!

I just installed two home depot two flush toilets- I love how fast the things stop flushing.

My dad also just replaced a 30 year old toilet with a two-flush toilet. Even my dad is going green!

Wow! Great work!

I love projects like this!

Porcelain tile is also impervious to water- therefore better protection of the frame underneath.

However, I would not want to lift and set one of those monsters.

Repurposing the fur into other things is good. People that wear fur coats would not wear the old grandma coats anyway.

However, I would never wear or buy fur anyway.

Leather is better because we kill cows for food anyway. Has anyone eaten mink?

How horrible! Two reasons;

1. Stealing someone's design
2. Excessive waste of electricity

I am doing the same thing. What I have done is I am using a very large subway tile (4" high, 12" wide). I am using for grout a grey/silver which gives a different look, yet conventional.

Recently I saw black subway tile, which was quite a shocker!

I have also seen subway tile in tan/ brown.

As for concerns about resale, unless you plan to resell quickly, just make your self happy.

If the reno is well done, there will be somebody who will like it when you go to sell.

Dancingspring, I hate that ad as well!

What a blatant play on people's fear of drinking water!

So what if your toilet water comes from the same source!

Actually, all water comes from the same source- the earth!

I hope that this stool is hollowed out. If it is solid it will weigh a ton! Also, wasteful use of waste material is still wasteful.

Personnally, I would not want something made from polyurethane or epoxy resin in my home. The off-gassing is terrible!

If it is uncomfortable, it cannot be green (waste of resources)

I replaced our (broken) glass sleeve with a polycarbonate one years ago, because my wife kept breaking them. Since then I have not needed a replacement.

What's wrong with the old toilet seat?

Are the previous tenants so gross that you need to change it?

A greener solution is keep the old seat, but give it a good clean. Heck, you can even hire a cleaning lady to do it!

On The McGill university campus in Montreal there is a building
with a brick wall in the alley that has cat paw prints on the bricks.

My sister was taking photos (she loves cats& strange things) when two professors asked why. When shown the prints, they asked how the cat was able to climb up the wall!

Very nice looking!

But the notion of making something fragile so that it lasts longer is rediculous!

Personally I hate this thing. As a designer, the grip offends me- you hand fights to keep a hold on it. I am even more offended and ashamed as Karim went to the same school as I did, and should know better.

I have also seen tests where this thing blew flour out of its vents.

My wife and I bought a house three years ago. What was a triplex (2 apts on the 2nd floor) is now a 1200 square foot single unit. We have huge amounts of space for us, even with all the stuff we haul around like packrats.

I have architect friends now designing 8000 to 20 000 sf houses in Conneticut!

Small is beautiful!

Unfortunately, Hypertufa IS NOT very green. Hypertufa is a mix of Portland cement and Peat Moss.

Peat Moss is harvested from Peat Bogs, which are very sensitive and necessary habitats. We should not use peat at all so that bogs can be preserved.

Apartment Therapy, I am disappointed once again by your green blog.

This isnt a very green chair- it should use RECYCLED cardboard.
Also, the slots and tabs assembly will wear out within a week.

To make it better, some folds in the traverses could help

A note about dimmer switches- dimmers are more prone to shorting out and waste electricity as well.

I suggest using lower wattage bulbs instead of dimmers
