Hi
I finished!!! But i didn't post any photos...I will the next time. I really Cured my living/dining room, bathroom and kitchen. I cleaned out my bedroom and fixed things there but the next cure is a redecoration of both bedrooms, mine and my sons. And then I'll really be CURED! Thanks AT! this was great!

Well, I did the deep treatment and I intended to do a one room treatment on my bedroom but I ended up finishing my living/dining room. It's gorgeous. I'll post photos a bit later. I am soooo pleased with the 8 week cure. it really motivated me to rethink, declutter, hone in on my tastes and trust my instincts. Thank you for this process and now I know how to continue with the bedroom. And it is amazing how the smallest, simplest fixes can make such a huge difference. I recovered my dining room chairs with a bright orange japanese print, very simple and graphic but it just made the whole room come to life (i refuse to use the word "pop"). The artwork I love has all found homes and the lighting has made it all seem special and important. I am happy everytime I walk into my apartment at the end of the day. Merry Xmas to me...Oh, and I stole a xmas decorating idea from a AT post: a christmas tree on wall made of all the ornaments. I took it a step further and outlined the shape of the tree with lights, then hung the ornaments....I may never buy another christmas tree! Thanks AT!!!

Well, I worked on my landing strip this weekend. The mail organization was the biggest problem for me and the book helped. But now my house is really a mess. The more I clean out and dig up the more that gets added to my repair and design list. and the outbox has grown to an Out-section of the backyard. Trying to decide whether I should have yard sale. But nonetheless, its worth the work and messy re-organization.

Oh yeah, color....All I know is that I still want to paint my bedroom white. But I saw this great show, Man Shops Globe on IFC. A shopper for Anthropologie in Belgium. He found a Louis XV twin head & foot board. He was trying to find items/objects that were old and new a la Anthropologie. So he had a grafitti artist do an incredible piece on the headboard. spectacular idea! grafitti on louis xv=A

Mail is my biggest problem! What to do with it all so that it doesn't pile up in my very nice landing strip. I created a landing strip over the summer and it is great. At the moment though it is the only place for my outbox, so the more I de-clutter the worse my entryway gets.

I didn't get a chance to comment on my deeply clean kitchen!!!! What a fabulous feeling. My son came in after I was done and said "wow it looks so much bigger" I got rid of sooooo much crap! Now most of my lower cabinets are empty. Some things have come back from the outbox but mostly not.

Onward and upward!

I am finding it hard to get rid of two sentimental peices of furniture. One was my grandmothers dresser. Its a lovely 3 drawer blond wood dresser with a long narrow mirror attached. Looks like its from the 40s. For the past several years it has acted as a home for my altar, sewing materials, and board games. The board games need to go out in the next yard sale but I need to find a new home for the altar and the sewing materials. And I don't really want to get rid of the dresser but it doesn't really fit anywhere, not really. the other is my gorgeous but much too large MCM dining room set given to me by my great aunt. It was given to her by a doctor she used to clean house for. I am not getting rid of either but I would like to put them in storage until I can give them a real home...with me.

So i have begun...I started my vision tray on my computer but I have more images in magazines that I haven't gone through yet. I have decided what to get rid of I just haven't managed to do it yet. So I feel you Maxwell! Its not even the thing that I know I really need to get rid of, its the baby step and I'm still having a hard time. Anway...I haven't been able to submit photos yet but I will. Okay, off to read ch.2. hang in there everybody.

I am also doing a bedroom cure. I'd like to do both my room and my son's room but we'll see. He seems perfectly happy with his room where I am not happy with mine. I also need to do a general cure with focus on cleaning out the closets. And I have little projects in the living/dining room like having one chair re-upholstered and another one a diy. I also need to do something with my dining area. But the main cure is my bedroom. I want an all white room with natural wood elements but not minimal, I want to feel like I am floating in a cloud with really good art hanging on the walls. I need to pull up the carpet and finish the floor and paint. Biggest problem is my clothes or I don't seem to like to hang up my clothes and they end up draped on everything. So thats my task for this 8 weeks. I'll post some inspirations soon.

Okay, I am going to try this again. I started the cure last spring but didn't get very far...I take that back. I actually got a lot done but not in the 8 week time frame and I didn't post anything. This time I have the book and I do my very best. I've started buying flowers every sunday...so even if my apartment is still a mess, I've got fresh flowers! It makes a huge difference. Now if the cure can get me to do dishes more regularly then it will be a miracle cure!
Off I go!!!

Hi there, I am a newbie and still haven't received the book but I got started last week on the list of tasks for each room. When I thought i was done with one room I would move on but then would see things in the new room that would send me back to the last room. So lots of tasks and projects. Some are de-cluttering and some a decorative. Part of this Cure will be a gigantic yard sale. I'll start posting photos eventually but I'm still a little shy...:)
