How tight are the springs? If there's no support in the seat, it's probably not worth your time, esp. if you've not reupholstered before. (Recovering is far easier.)

Why are these hotels you never want to leave if you've never been there? You should definitely visit, but moving to a place you've never been is sort of odd.

What about work?

It's not likely anyone is going to sit at that desk when someone else watches a movie. I think this place is nice, but it's helped greatly by the very good photos.

I used to work on a makeover show on a major cable net. Our carpenter was a Polish immigrant who could build anything, and was smokin' hot as well. Could not speak English very well, so the EP decided that he'd just do all of this on-camera work without speaking and without a shirt.

bepsf and I agree, as so often happens. I love the sign, but why does AT insist on posting about retail spaces? I don't care what a hotel, a boutique or a cafe does. And don't give me the "It's inspirational" line. I think it's just lazy bloggers.

The wall paper is in a night club. I don't know that it translates to a home. Different environments.

Yes! Great house, great tour, and a great write-up! I wish all the tours were self-guided. But I have a feeling that Jessie can do a great job for the homes of others as well.

And the two-drawer dishwasher proves she's got great taste.

Or photos framed and hung on a wall. I think this is kinda cute, but not all that meaningful--do you count a plane change in Zurich as having visited Switzerland?

Confusion Hill was never an actual dwelling. Why not a post on historic homes across the country, rather than dubious tourist traps?

Winchester House, for example.

I think the house is actually pretty great, but these photos don't do a great job of telling the story.

In general, I'd rather hear more from the homeowners, and less write-up from bloggers. (In fact--no write-up works well for me.)

Maybe a video tour with an on-camera interview would be better or at least an option. The House Tour Questionnaire could use an update as well.

"Masion Un" should be Maison Une.

The house is really great, but this isn't my idea of good writing--the description is working way too hard to be like a shelter magazine piece. I'd rather hear more from the homeowner and less from the blogger.

Ice Hotel is only open from Dec. to April--but there's other places to stay, if you want to enjoy Lapland.
Hotel de Glace is open from January to March.

Not much point considering a trip right this minute.

France is nice but it's not "magical". Rather than write about someplace you've not been, why not write about someplace you have?

Or at least post about places in France that haven't already been covered on AT--why recycle these old posts?
