France is so lovely. The people are interesting to talk to and the food is yummy (well at least the pastries and anything with bread is). My absolute favorite spot to be was Chamonix. A runner up was Toulouse or Colmar. I loved both places. A very interesting place to see is Carcassone. You should take 3 weeks the first time you go, it's so worth it.

I've only started living alone as of this summer but I have found some things that work, and some things that don't.

The very very first room I decorated and got set up was the bathroom. It's the smallest room and I had everything up and ready to go by the time I took my shower the night I moved in. This helped the following few days when I was living out of boxes in every other room, I at least had one room where there weren't any boxes and it felt put together. Second, if you're starting from scratch on every piece of furniture and decoration. Start with curtains. It's amazing how much they do to transform 4 white walls into something homey. Also, but a few boxes of your favorite macaroni and cheese (or whatever cheap and easy meal you can store for months at a time). This comes in handy when you're living paycheck to 3 days before paycheck and the cupboards and fridge are getting a little low on supplies. It also helps as a backup meal when you get sick, or feel like not doing anything that day - including cooking.

If you forget the shower curtain the first night, or lose it in the sea of boxes, hang a sheet over the curtain rod. The side in the tub will get soaked, and then when you realize that you forgot to unpack the towels, the side of the sheet that's hanging outside the tub is fairly dry and now your shower curtain can double as a towel...clearly I've done this one too many times.

Does anyone know where I can find a couch like that one?

I don't care for it but I've spent my whole life in Arizona and want to move away in search for a greener area. Plus, it takes a toll on the water bill to have green grass here. We water our yard 3 times a day to keep it somewhat green throughout summer. We have a cactus garden in my backyard but it's just not that inviting. I'm a fan of laying on the grass or reading a good book under a tree.
