I am totally planning on making a wood swing arbor and wood swings for my daughter this year. I love the ones that are engraved on too. So magical. Feel Like a Kid: Reclaimed Wood Swings |

I love using gravel. It is so easy to do and maintain. We just made a fire pit area out of gravel and used a brick like stone for the edging. We love how it turned out and are planning on lining our garden area with the same brick, and doing a path and patio in the back with the gravel and brick. I have a pair of the exact hollywood regency chairs. I found them at a thrift store for $15.00 each. I actually painted them and reupholstered them, but I have not known there time or origin until now. Fun. The Bold & the Beautiful: Decorating with Graphic Chairs |

Thistly- My heart and thoughts go out to you and I in no way want to disagree with someone living a tragedy, but I do want to say that I think a benefit and blessing to being prepared with emergency kits and food etc is the priceless ability to be able to help others in need. My thoughts are to prepare myself and pray my neighbors prepare too. So that way if arms are reached out to me to help I can, and if I need to reach out hopefully they have done the same. Sorry, one more thing. The LDS church also has Home Storage Centers across the country and world where you can buy food storage items. The members volunteer to work at these facilities and can goods for global and local relief efforts. You can find a list of centers Here along with an order form so that you can see what they have. You do have to pick the items up in person though. And here is a link to their food storage calculator. Thanks! Just had to share. Preparing for an Earthquake and Other Natural Disasters |

Not to get all churchy on here or anything, but the LDS church (mormons) which I happen to belong to has been practicing and teaching Emergency Preparedness for decades and they have a lot of good material and resources available, some of which is located on their main website. I have totally created a DIY monster at my house. Just this morning she was looking through a Pottery Barn kids magazine and telling me how we could make a "high" bed with a ladder, and what wall it could go on. We even came up with an idea together to put a slide in the basement under the stairs. You would think that would mean I could get rid of the binki and diapers, but for some reason we are still working on that. LOL! I love decorating and DIYing with her when she is into it, but when she is not I just rather wait until after bed time. Especially when it comes to heavy cutting or painting. I did some image searches for attic kitchen and kitchen in attic and it pulled some similar layouts to yours, maybe you could get inspired by looking at those. Good Luck! What To Do With Small, Angled Ceiling Kitchen? Good Question |

If you cut shelves with a mitered edge you would be able to hang them flush and level to the wall. Hope that makes sense. Also if there are other apartments with the same kitchen layout, maybe get to know your neighbors and find out what some of their solutions are. Looks like a fun place! I would keep the wallpaper, but that is just me. What To Do With Small, Angled Ceiling Kitchen? Good Question |

Ikea has the perfect roller blinds for your situation. They are the Enje roller blinds and they range from $19.99 - $39.99 depending on the size. I have these blinds on all the windows in my house and I love them because they let in so much light, I can see outside, and no one can see in. At night if your lights are on people can see shadows and figures inside but this doesn't bother me and a light curtain would fix that. I have some pictures on my blog that show the blinds in the background if you are interested in checking them out. Window Treatments that Allow Light & Provide Privacy? Good Questions |

Family history photos make decorating so much more personal. My philosophy is to never hang something that doesn't mean something to me. I want to be able to look around my home and see stories not stores. I framed these pictures to go next to my great grandmothers dining set I have inherited. I thought it was a fun and interesting way to remember who and where my family has come from. My husband and I had the same exact problem with closet-doors while renovating our condo. In-fact it was the last project left and needed to get them done quickly because we were going to sell our condo. We had looked into so many different options, but the cheapest thing we found was to make our own. They turned out great and cost us very little. Here are some pictures of the closet-doors before we painted them. Inexpensive Creative Solutions for Closet Doors? Good Questions | Apartment Therapy San Francisco |
