This tour was fabulous - and like others have said, show real creativity. It's easy to have "style" with a huge budget, but seeing places like this are so much more inspiring! It looks like the home of my coolest friends!

Wow - I have to try Jeni's! But... I worked for years for Amy's Ice Creams in Austin, Texas, and she will ship anywhere in the US. It's expensive due to the dry ice needed to ship. Check out their site at www.amysicecreams.com. They are most famous for a flavor called Mexican Vanilla, but they have local/seasonal (think Fredricksburg Peach) flavors as well as more artisanal flavors like Jalepeno Lemon, Shiner Bock, etc.

I travel for a week out of every month and have since my daughter was 15 months old (she's now 4 years). For the various fabulous caregivers, my lists and items have been similar to yours with a couple additions... I get one of those greeting cards where you can record your own message and record one for her. She keeps it by her bed and listens to it over and over. Also, when my dad stayed with her, I arranged for a healthy meal delivery service as I didn't want either he or my daughter to subsist on macaroni and cheese and pizza for an entire week. I also leave a calendar of fun things (such as local library story times, park puppet shows, etc.) to do with maps/directions on how to get there.

Love this so much. Not too "done" and it feels comfortable and inviting. I live in Austin, too, and this is Hyde Park as I remember it from college!

My 3-year old and I traveled to Tanzania and back (from Texas) and here were some of her favorites:
- mini magnetic doodle pad
- 3 plastic "princess dolls"
- magnetic "paper" dolls
- small puzzles
- my iPhone (sad, but true!)
