Ugh I dent my beautiful wood floors whenever I drop anything....there are thousands of fork-tine marks in them, the tread from the bottoms of pepper jars, you name it, you can trace the history of my clumsiness by my floors.

I make this dough often, and love it. Anyone know how to make it a little more crispy/thinner? Sometimes I want a crunchier crispier dough but I don't know how to achieve that! Sometimes this dough is a bit too...bready? Chewy?

Suggestions?

Not cute.

I've never heard any of this, and eat shellfish in the summer without issue. Summer is definitely crab time, especially when we hit the jersey shore.

Cute, but DUST! Evil dust!! This would look pretty gross after a month or two, unless you're willing to break out the compressed air gun...

Whenever I bring chicken or turkey meatballs into the office for lunch, I can't help but sneak one at breakfast when I stash my lunch in the fridge! I find that the protein makes my feeble grain breakfast go a lot further...I get hungry for lunch later than on non-meatball-sneaking days!

i bow at the feet of my kitchen aid mixer and pasta attachment...my fella isn't so helpful in the kitchen, so cranking the pasta machine was rendering me helpless. the mixer attachment turned this giant project into something i can easily do once a week...I don't even make extra to freeze because I love making it fresh weekly now!

the attachment is a bit of an investment ($100 ish) but SO WORTH IT if this is something you're into.

**sorry, forgot cooking. As the name implies, broil on high! A fast cooker, and the richer and blacker the outside, the better!

Very familiar, this was one of my mother's staples. She'd never marinate the same way twice. A ginger teriyaki one night, or soy sauce and sesame oil, or a simple Worcestershire (thanks, spell-check) and onions...any salty marinade works well. Slice thin. Not a fancy meal, good suburban mom meal with simple potatoes and a veggie. Makes excellent sandwiches the next day. Yummm.

Donsie -
Instead of a mushroom risotto, I love asparagus. I buy the beautiful thin asparagus, dice to about fingernail size, and toss in during one of the final stages of a basic oniony-buttery risotto. Add a little parm, and yum! The asparagus flavors the whole dish, makes it taste fresher and lighter.

Not being a vegetarian, I'll be pairing this with a splurge on whatever seafood looks most delicious at the market! Hurray for Valentine's Day at home - spend half the money, avoid the crowds, and enjoy the leftovers! MMmm asparagus rice cakes for lunch on the 15th...

Wow, that's definitely for the baby mat...what a funny mishap! It looks like the arms rotate since the mat isn't a perfectly straight shape, and to collapse it I guess. I'd be surprised if it turned out to be anything else!

Can I make brittle poured into silicone pans? I've just moved and brought along plenty of space-saving silicone bakeware, but the metal pans are still in the black hole of boxes. Would this mixture melt my pretty orange silicone?? I'd love to make this my holiday contribution as it would be perfect to make in our transition phase.

Mmmmm these were my favorite quick stop meal in Rome. There they were called suppli al telefono, because when you bite into them the little ball of cheese in the middle stretches out like a telephone cord. The risotto also often has some marinara mixed in, just enough to make the whole mixture a bit orange. Adds more depth, my recipe actually forgoes egg except for the outter shell, the rice is cold and compact enough as is. Really delicious way to use up leftover risotto, so filling, definitely a comfort food candidate.

Can someone please explain the taste and appeal of artichokes?! I'm so intimidated/turned off by them, never tried or cooked or purchased one, but perhaps some Kitchn readers can convert me/teach me that it's not my thing.

When it comes to cleaning annoying curvies like the Ona, or hand-washing my glasses, I buy something similar to this at Target...they come in 2-packs in fun colors, in the baby bottle aisle. They get in all the nooks and crannies since the bristles are such thin but strong nylon. Plus the swirly swivel action takes care of the elbow grease (think turning a crank). With the Target ones the handles are nice and thick and the little scrubber at the end folds up into the handle.

For a quick-and-lazy version when there's almost nothing fresh in the house, I love tossing these ingredients together (getting very liberal with the sour cream and Worcestershire)

Egg noodles (any hearty but flat noodle will do)
IKEA Swedish meatballs, browned a bit before adding wet ingredients.
Cream of mushroom soup
Sliced mushrooms, maybe.
Worcestershire sauce
Diced onions, or dried.
Small clove of garlic.

Can all be tossed together in one pan, it's fast and filling! Great college meal.
