i agree, i think that the after pictures looks generic and right out of a catalog...i miss the original artwork, although a bit shabby, had character. i love the bed frame, fan, and side table!

i agree, i cannot get past the green on the walls either. i would go for more of a natural color, especially with a smaller bathroom.

if i could have PICKED artwork for the white house; from DC Museums...this is not what i would have chosen. i am disappointed.

wow. lots of anger about this issue; i recall other posts with the chalkboard paint on different surfaces and
everyone was ecstatic.
I love it. I grew up with a huge chalkboard in my room; but it was heavy...this is such a great option. it works well in my kitchen to write notes; i.e. things we need, to do's, etc.
thanks for the tip on how to repaint over it.

oh wow. this is so wonderful. is there one coming to NYC? we turned our 2nd grade classroom into "where the wild things are" and I remember making the vines and it was so cool! i would love to see the grown up version.

don't leave it empty! i would say baskets, to hide things; books magazines, also i love the idea of oversized letters, maybe the light up sign ones? do you have outlets up there?

you could make a really interesting sculpture out of found objects? a nice piece of drift wood and a unique oversized stone or rock you might find near a creek or ocean front.

blue glass jars? or i love glass insulators.

enjoy have fun wit the space!

I defiantly think the rug is too small. i love it, but the table is too big and takes away from the rug.

I like the look, it has to be just the right sized room, i would elevate it a little, not have it directly on the floor, though that is just me.

in the first picture i love that look, especially the wall color, how might one go about achieving that look of the wall paint? it reminds me of an old wall that has a nice worn look? almost very cuban or something? any ideas?

I am with Clopes give it away; salvation army is a great idea. I would not build a room around it, it might end up looking like "welcome to the Johnson" a great bar in the LES, but not one that i would model my living room after.
you can find really nice couches for cheap on craislist, i love the craiglist find sections on AT.

i don't like the idea about covering the cushions; i think the problem isn't really with the worn look, rather the actual style of the couch itself.

oh that would be a lovely idea! I am sure it would be a simple cover a bored with a little padding, and then find a fabric you'd like and hang it.

also, the photo of the eye, does anyone know who that is by? it looks like marilyn minter?! i love her work, i did a project with her, she is an incredible artist, painter, photographer in NYC.

I love the idea of using "found" objects for storage! i am in love with vintage coca-cola wooden boxes! I once found one on the side of a NYC street in a garbage pile and ganked it, which goes against everything i believe in! i mean NYC garbage can be GROSS.

I love the green couch; does anyone know where that is from?!

if you don't mind wooden cabinets, which i don't mind them (i think real wood can be nice). I would update the pulls-maybe put in some cute new door knobs and pulls, anthropologie.com is a nice place to get them.

I would paint the fridge; there was a post for painting the fridge with chalk board paint..looks really neat.

I would defiantly paint the walls a different color; maybe a neutral white of off white till you figure out your kitchen scheme.

have fun!
