I second Carmen R on using it as an eye make-up remover! I use it to remove all of my eye make-up, including waterproof eyeliner, shadow, and waterproof mascara. Dab some onto a cotton ball or cleansing pad and hold to your eyelid for a few seconds to let it dissolve, and gently wipe away. Repeat as needed. I do this after I remove my contact lenses, though, as it can make vision a little cloudy with contacts in.

I also use it to remove excess facial wax instead of the (usually included) "soothing" wipes that remove the extra wax. Those wipes always made me have little swollen bumps, and do nothing to soothe! The coconut oil removes it all easily and no swelling/irritation at all.

I don't use it as a moisturizer on my whole face, though, since I don't think it is non-comedogenic. I haven't had any break-outs on my face after using it, but just be aware that it is possible.

I prefer to handle it in solid form, because it is less messy that way. No problem in the winter, but coconut oil melts around 76degF, and I keep my place a warmer than that in the summer. You could keep it in the fridge, though.

I have been using Papers for 3 years, and it has definitely made organizing my near 1000 research articles so easy! You can sort and search papers by title, journal, author, etc. and also connect to the online databases to find "recent articles by this author" and other useful things like that. I don't use online search repositories (like Google Scholar) to look for articles anymore, I just search them within Papers. You can enter an automatic EZproxy(?) address for institutional login for full text access.

Every time I write a new research paper, I create a new "collection" and use it just like the Cite-While-You-Write functionality in EndNote. Then when I am done, I just export the collection into EndNote format and Format Biobliography! So easy-peazy!! <3 <3 <3

Also, I was just thinking those would be a great size to make those DIY earthboxes... and much more attractive than the plastic Rubbermaid bins that people usually use to make them!

Wow! That looks great! I assume it is very heavy... I'd love to put one on my patio, but I'm scared those old planks wouldn't be too happy about it. :(

I'm very surprised to hear you have a problem with quick degradation! I go on long walks/hikes with my dog and always use these bags, and never had a problem. Maybe its a difference between the consistency/content of our dogs' doo.

I admit that I have to throw these in my condo's dumpster, since we don't have space to set up one of the doggie-doo compost bins (for landscaping, not edible plants)! So I know that most landfills are supposed to be inert and not allow biodegradation, and that these bags may not biodegrade in the landfill. But I also like the bags because they are sourced responsibly from non-food-bound agricultural sources, instead of petroleum like most plastic bags.

And when I can finally have an outdoor doggie-doo compost system, I plan to try out these bags for that purpose, too. I'm all for indoor composting of food scraps, etc, but not about to compost dog waste indoors!!

I also have the LG washer/dryer combo, and have been using it heavily for nearly 2 years now, installed in the kitchen of my little 1BR condo. I can load my laundry and detergent before I go to bed, set it to run the wash and dry cycle during the day while I am at work, and come home to clean laundry that has been kept from wrinkling by the tossing during the "cool down" feature it has!

Although, like circusboy warned about the Akso, it does not have a dryer lint collection system (ventless), either. I clean out the lint that collects on the rubber seal of the door after every wash/dry cycle. But I know that some has gone down the drain and is clogging up somewhere that is inaccessible to me (I have tried using "lint catcher balls," basically covered with velcro, but those didn't seem to catch any lint at all!). I'm kind of dreading the day when I will have to get it fixed, but so far so good. It definitely beats going down to the laundromat! After hearing about creepy underwear thieves in my college dorm laundry room, I am very turned off from public laundromats!!!

The first one is EXACTLY what I have been looking for in a clothes dryer - lots of hang space, but flat wall-/door-mountable.

I found it for only $56 (including shipping) at realgoods.com, and $49.50 (including shipping) at clotheslineshop.com. I chose to buy from the first one because the website and checkout seemed more legit and secure.

my boyfriend had a fav band t-shirt that had shrunken to be too small for him. i cut out the graphic part of it and sewed it reverse-patch-style into a coordinating color t-shirt. (this involves cutting out a hole in the new shirt, and sewing the patch to the inside of the shirt... kind of tricky to not accidentally cut through the design!)

anyway, he loves it, and his friends do, too! they've asked if i could do it for some too-small shirts they love, too :)

I also have the Rubbermaid version, and haven't had problems with light microwaving. I mostly use mine to pack my lunch, a sandwich with some carrots and apples, and I love that it takes up almost no space when I bring it home. I also bring one to restaurants to take leftovers home, since they fit in my purse so easily when flat :)

I haven't had any problems with it collapsing while in my bag, no leaks, nothing. Closing the lid should take no more than 1 min to get the hang of, since the lip of the collapsible part is wider for the purpose of holding it as a support when sealing the lid.

something very simple is just pan-fried silken tofu! but be very careful, since the pieces will break easily, and requires some patience flip carefully... but if you get it right, you'll be rewarded with delicious little silken tofu morsels that are slightly crunchy on the outside and will just melt in your mouth on the inside!

1. cut silken tofu into ~1/2in-3/4in cubes
2. heat 2 tbsp veg/canola oil in a wok on med hi
3. gently drop in tofu and pan fry until golden
4. flip tofu cubes by gently tossing 4 times
5. use chopsticks to flip to remaining raw sides as needed (this will take some practice so that you don't break the tofu!)

my favorite is to dip these in thai sweet chilli sauce (such as Mae Ploy brand), either as an appetizer, snack, or as another side dish with rice. when you get fried tofu at restaurants, they usually use a firmer tofu for this. you know its a really good restaurant if they use silken tofu, instead... yummm
