We used Olympic no VOC for our whole house. I don't know if the claims are true, but the house didn't smell at all. Are No-VOC Paint Claims Really Legit? Not Always. |

Some kitties don't like citrus, so you could try applying lemon juice. Of course, some cats don't know they shouldn't like citrus.. Apartment Therapy Los Angeles | When Cats Strike: Keeping House Plants Healthy |

As the child of European parents, I was often naked on the beach or backyard until I was around 7 years old. My parents were occasionally approached by other people pointing out that my brother and I were naked. My parents would laugh and say that we were only kids and it wasn't a big deal. I've spoken about this with my husband as we are now expecting our first child. His upbringing was more puritan, but I talked him into it and we plan to have little nudists as well. It's interesting that the article brings up early sexualization of children in this context. I completely understood the concept of sex from an very early age as it was discussed frankly in my home. I was also a virgin almost into my twenties. My husbands family NEVER spoke about sex with him and he was in sexual situations much earlier than I was. It's not a large sample size, but I thought it was interesting. Apartment Therapy ohdeedoh | When Do They Need A Fig Leaf? The New York Times |

We love our Dyson. It was so darn expensive, it's kind of heavy...and you couldn't tear it out of my cold dead hands! :) The emptying function is great- just push the button and the end farthest from you opens up. My brother has one and he loves that feature too. Oooh- I never thought of emptying it into the compost! Good idea Det. Ventriloquist. We would love to use bar soap, especially since my mother-in-law makes it for us. The problem is our bars melt and I don't like the look of those plastic deals that hold the soap up out of the water. They always look so scummy. Does anyone have ingenious ideas for bar soap elevation? Apartment Therapy Re-Nest | Liquid vs. Bar Soap |

I also have the IKEA Ektorp sofa, the sectional to be exact. It has been subjected to 4 men sitting heavily on it for 6 years and is only slightly worse for the wear. Ughh.. We had one in a tree close to our house when we moved in. 5 years later the tree was trimmed and it finally came down. 5 years of snow, thunderstorms and one tornado... I hope you can reach yours because they take forever to break down. :( Apartment Therapy Re-Nest | Plastic Bag in the Tree |

Wow, thanks for all the great ideas and resources. I'm really flattered that this got posted, I feel famous! I will think about it for a while-things always work out better that way somehow. :) I would never have thought of doing something contrasting on the sides, the idea appeals to me. But maybe a restorer might be a good bet too... I will absolutely send pictures of the finished product. Again, thank you for the help, and I'd love to see more ideas if anyone thinks of anything else. And yes, those are tambour doors.
