I second the use of poster putty on the cabinet. Honestly I keep a little ball of it on the inside of the cabinet door, then when I want to hang a recipe I can put it on whichever cabinet that is closest to the prep area and stick the printout on it.
When I try to just have my laptop open it makes me frustrated as I walk back and forth from the "safe" zone for the computer to the cooking area.

I may not be on the East Coast but this Gulf Coast is a hot steamy place. The last thing I wanted to do was stand over the stove yesterday. So this post inspired me. But I used 2 packs of chicken that I already had in the freezer. Came out delicious & smelled so good. Now I get to have spicy shredded chicken for lunch too!

There are plenty of vacant lots in Houston that would be much improved by blooming wildflowers in spring. Hm, wonder where would be a good location for one of these dispensers?

Egg yolk. Please don't even make me watch you eat over-easy fried eggs with runny yolks that you soak your toast in as my husband loves to do. Hard-boiled, poached, anything where the egg white and egg yolk stay separate. ug.

Scrambled eggs, no problem now but it's taken work. Tabasco (red or green) has been my magic tasty-potion for those.

Thought I hated zucchini, but what I hated was the over-microwaved mushy version that my mom served me. Now that I know it can be crisp and fresh I really like it.

you missed a zero for the internal temp of the chicken. Probably 150° not 15°.
Sounds like a great recipe!

nothing's better than a PB & honey sandwich. I like to lightly toast the bread first.
But you've inspired me to go make a PB&banana right now.

My batch is simmering on the stove just about ready to meet my bowl and a slice of multigrain bread.
I chopped up a bunch of leftover ham we had and added it to the soup instead of a ham bone. smells so good.
Easy. thanks for the inspiration

That episode was the most boring of the whole season. In fact half way through I was certain that maybe this was the semi-final and the final would be 1 on 1. Was it the editing?
Regardless of who my favorite chef was, the show just didn't capture any competition, drive, passion, or big creativity like we've seen in past seasons.
oh well.

I gave a bunch of these as stocking stuffers for my cousins last year. They even have molds to make frozen shot glasses.

If my husband isn't home I still prefer to eat frozen green beans (especially when there aren't pretty fresh ones at the store).
My mom really hates cooking so the fact that my sister and I loved frozen green beans and peas meant she didn't have to stress about (over)cooking the veggies. I don't think I would have liked the peas in a popsicle format though.

My grandma had a long appliance garage put in her kitchen when she re-did it in the early 80s. She was ahead of her time :-)

On a tangent note, I saw a picnic basket that had a flip up square so that a wine bottle can peek out the top of the basket. Reminds me of this picture.

I think this would be great if your goal was to keep the rest of the pepper whole so you could stuff it for baking or grilling (like jm chen just said). Or you'd need a skinny sharp knife and hold your breath.

To keep the fingers from burning - always have a box of disposable rubber gloves in the kitchen for pepper/chili handling.

It's almost embarrassing to say, but my most recent IKEA I-love-it item is a dish scrubber with a suction cup at the end of the handle. I HATE when the scrubber just lays in the sink and gets muckier and muckier... with the suction cup you can use it then stick it to the counter standing up on end so it's out of the way but nearby.

Whether or not you knew what PEI stood for, if you've eaten more than a couple meals of shell fish or visited a restaurant with an oyster bar you'd know that most oysters and mussels and lobsters are labeled with where they are from. Even specific bays. So at least you know it's a place and not a chemical.
I'm in the group that knows PEI from Anne of Green Gables - the books and PBS series!

I LOVE Penzeys. We have one on 19th St in Houston.
I agree that the best part is to be able to stand there and sniff/test the different variety of herbs and spices and spice mixes before committing to take home a jar.
We've given boxes of Penzeys spices (some pre-packed, some self selected) as engagement gifts, wedding gifts and house-warming gifts.

I have my grandmother's strawberry huller. It looks like fat tweezers. I always thought it was called a strawberry topper till I tried to find another one.
You just pluck out the stem with a little bit of berry surrounding stem. no knives, no danger, quick and easy.

google search resulted in a good image: http://wendihiebert.files.wordpress.com/2008/07/strawberry-huller.jpg
