I have used the homework assignments more as motivating suggestions than fixed goals, which has worked extremely well for me. Example: I may not have a perfectly clean kitchen, but I did clean the fridge and got some art hung on the kitchen walls! I've loved this Cure, and definitely hope there will be more like this rather than the very brief ones that have been done recently. Thank you, Janel and everyone else! My big project last year was remaking our spare bedroom into my home office, and it was 90% finished heading into the new year. Hanging art is the last big piece of the project to finish - then only one small and one tiny task left and it will be completely finished. I am (almost) deliriously happy!! I'm so happy that I've already got a pretty good system in place for bills and papers b/c I'm not sure I could set up a good system from scratch in a single day. But I do need to do some maintenance on my existing system - I have some files that need a purge or a tweak - and that is a manageable task even on a busy day! Hi Monet419. I don't have an entryway either, so I've got my system spread out in 3 places - a bowl for keys, wallets, etc, with a shelf for mail below. Purse in tv armoire across the room. Coats in closet in the next room. It works really well for me, though my husband still dumps his stuff on the dining room table and I put it away later. I told him he should spend some time today thinking through whether there is something else we should do to make the system work better for him. Fingers crossed! Ah yes, mental clutter. A few years ago, I did a massive purge and reorg of the whole house. Lately I've been thinking that it's time to revisit the reorg and tweak the parts that didn't work as well. I've been focused on the parts that didn't work, which can be a downer given how much work went into this back then. It definitely dampens my motivation level. I think I need to try to take stock of the whole project in hopes that I will discover that it was mostly a success. Fingers crossed. Laurie's January Cure: My First Week January Cure Diaries |

Last year I went on a photo-framing spree, and started framing photos of family, travel, friends, etc and hanging them from the walls, propping them up on bookcases. We've gone from a nearly photo-free house to one that is starting to fill with our memories and reminders of some of our favorite people. It's been a fabulous change, and one that I've planned to continue as a few of the projects that I've identified for my Cure. As we speak, the photos my sister chose for me to hang of her and my bro-in-law are on their way to me, and others that I've selected for development are at the shop and ready for pick-up. So excited to keep moving this project along! Day 6: Choose a Piece of Artwork & Get Going on Framing It Apartment Therapy January Cure |

I decided to sit and stare at my mantel for ten minutes. Oy, I have tried and tried and failed and failed to get this right (won't tell you how many times, that would be embarrassing). I had been thinking that it was the mirror that was wrong, and I needed to take it down and put the art back, but having removed the mirror and added the art, I can definitely put the mirror back and go back to the drawing board. Can we call this productive if all I've managed to do is eliminate a proposed solution? Day 4: Get a Fresh Perspective in Just 10 Minutes Apartment Therapy January Cure |

So fabulous. You've created so much mood and interest with just a few neutral colors. I love it! Apartment Therapy Los Angeles | Small Cool 2009: Vinh's Home Soul Little Division #48 |

The black/white/yellow combo is not one of my favorites, but even I can appreciate how well you've done with it here. The best part to me? Great light fixtures in each room. Apartment Therapy Chicago | Small Cool 2009: William William's Eclectic GraystoneSmall Division #01 |

I am more minimalist at heart, that's just who I am, but this truly lovely home makes me wish a little bit that I was more extravagant. What a great place for anyone to live, especially a child! Apartment Therapy San Francisco | House Tour: Sam's Carriage House Meets Gypsy CaravanSan Francisco |

So many beautiful touches - the candle holders on the dining room table, the bowls for the cacti. The whole place seems so well loved. Apartment Therapy San Francisco | House Tour: Jeanine's Smooth and Soulful Home San Francisco |
