Very nice! I'm 29 and everytime I read that book to my kids I still want to eat that food.

Funny, I was actually going to request that yall revisit The Parent TRap. Cool clothes, camp atmosphere, houses, etc. And Maureen O'hara was so hot.

Benny and Joon also sprung to mind.

My Daughter goes by Lux, her middle name, so this post amuses me. And yes, @TRufflesauce, my kids, and many others now have "old Lady names:" Sylvia, Marguerite, Maria. Not too unique, but very classic.

Love it! Also, nice kelly green lamp thing. I think I might have to buy a can of kelly green Spray paint now.

We totally have a midcentury modern cabinet that we can just stow our children in at night or when we get tired of them. We picked it up at a tag sale, and I think it has really nice lines. We slapped a coat of Robin's Egg Blue eco-friendly paint on it so the kids love it too. Of course we let them out when we have artisanal food to feed them, trendy crafts for them to do, or photo opps for my design blog.

Red is really nice as an accent, but since the bricks are red I would go with something else to avoid red overkill or clashing. Yellow or Robins egg blue for the door maybe? Honestly, I think I like the shutters as they are if the door gets a makeover. They're very classic.

Funny, we have almost all of the ones you mentioned. We also like The Narnia Series, Mrs. Piggle Wiggle, Betsy and Tacy (very girly), Beatrix Potter's Collection, and Peter Pan. Peter Pan is probably the most listened to.

Love your style! Very nice room. We have 4 kids in one room (hopefully not forever,) and you have similar palette to ours. I think yours is way nicer though. Good job.

As someone with 4 kids in a tiny house, I definitely understand the "no gifts" idea. However, the kids need to learn how to give and receive gratefully. Many kids love to give gifts.

The whole "give to a charity in my name" trend rubs me the wrong way. I dunno- it seems self righteous and ungrateful to me.

Oh Phooey- I grew up going to school in Lakewood, so this is making me super homesick. Nice job!

I'm with Callaloo. I used to think bathroom reading was gross, until I married into a family with 8 children. Now I know the truth: it's not gross, it's just quiet. Also, as a mother of 4, I like to use any spare time I can get.

Haha. As a mom of 4, I can get a lot of snot marks on my Levi's from the babies, so I have to wash them. Having said that, my husband is addicted to Levi's Shrink to fit 501's, which are not "consumptive." He only has a couple pairs, so I can see him doing this, at least a couple times, to keep that nice dark indigo.

I introduced Aprils Fool's Day to my 4 year old daughter today. We made chocolate "Dirt Cake" for some of her friends who came over. I know it's not that amazing, but it was so fun to watch her face as she showed the cake (in a flowerpot with tulips stuck in) to her friends.

Thanks!

I'm a little late to the party, but I also just discovered 3M velcro strips for hanging pictures and such. I'm in love. Now I'll consider 3M hooks too.

Is anyone else obsessed with Adam's Peanut butter jars? I actually make my own peanut butter now since I have a food processer, but I like the wide mouth Adam's jars so much that I have gone and bought more peanut butter just for the jars. They're nice for organizing the rice, beans, brown sugar, etc., in my cabinets.

Thank you! Sometimes pulling out the measuring cups and confectioner's sugar is so much easier for me than putting the kids coats on and walking down to the store for the 4 yr old's precious sprinkles (that taste like wax to me.)

I had to laugh at the Subway comments. I used to work there in college, and I never saw an "aroma machine." They do bake their own bread, which I think smells gross: a bit like bread, but mostly like chemicals or preservatives. It comes from their corproate headquarters in smallish frozen lumps that stay in the freezer for days or weeks.

I think almond extract and vanilla smell awesome. We usually keep old quartered apples and cloves simmering on the stove top, which usually gets us a lot of compliments. Also: peppermint or cinnamon essential oil in a diffuser if I'm in the mood.

It looks great.

We are about to have our 4th child, and much to our surprise:) we still live in a 2 bedroom house. I think it's gonna be fun, despite what some of my friends have said. Thanks for this post.
