I love this house and I love to see designs that are kid-friendly. It's great to actually see the kids using the furniture. With 3 small boys at our house, I am inspired by people who live with great design and a family of more than 2 kids!

I brought the winter wonderland ornament supplies, among other projects, to a holiday party last year to entertain the kids. It was their favorite!!

I agree with the previous posts - that clutter would drive me insane!

Too cool...and too bad we are not handy at our house.

We do the Real Simple version - hanging the picture cards on ribbons taped vertically on a wall in the kitchen. We used to throw them in a bowl. I like the new way better because the kids can easily see their cousins and friends.

I brought this craft last year to a party and it was the kids' favorite by far!

Agree - Liam's is fresh. And I like the word used above: "suffocating" for the window treatments in Stella's room!

We have 3 boys and a "lego room" now for all our legos. We usually buy the kits and our boys will sit down and follow the directions (which I think is a good skill to learn). But then within some time, the finished pieces fall apart and then they have fun building different flying machines or characters to drive them (which is also that free-play creativity). The kits are ridiculously expensive, but we let them use their own birthday gift cards or we buy them as presents. Craigslist is a great idea, but we don't need any more! It's a great activity going into winter here in the north!

My son's preschool gave us their handprints painted onto hot pad holders. They are already "hand shaped" and I still use mine 5 years later!

We now have an entire room for the Lego "mess". Granted, our boys do have a blast in there, but it is scary how expensive some of the kits run (over $200). Legos are great, but be careful of the direct marketing!

I love the treehouse! We are thinking about pea gravel too, so it's nice to see it in use in your space. Great job!

We have 3 boys (8, 6 and 3) and our youngest is like a tornado. If you want to enjoy your visit at all, I would take the suggestions above and invest in a couple of gates if that would work in your space OR clear lots of things out. It is an upfront investment but would save frustration and/or breakage.

And don't be too hard on the really is an exhausting job to parent toddler boys. They are full of energy and naughtiness. A suggestion I would add to the above is to make an effort to interact and play with your nephews. If you try to let them entertain themselves while the adults relax and chat, trouble will definitely ensue! 2-year old boys are VERY sweet and they would probably love some attention from someone other than Mom/Dad. And Mom/Dad would love you showing the effort to get to know the little ones.

And finally, we always had a terrible time putting our kids to bed in places other than home. Maybe you could offer to snuggle up and read a book to both of them while Mom/Dad has a glass of wine. Wow - Mom/Dad would love you for that one and you would experience one of the greatest bedtime rituals! Good luck and smile!

I love the camel print over the crib - makes me wonder why they aren't more common...I've seen almost every other animal in baby rooms. Love it!
